The monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Will be held

Monthly meeting

Nov. 1

The monthly meeting of the West Pubnico Acadian Historical Society will be held Thursday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m. at the Musée acadien in the annex room – Salle Blanche d'Entremont. Guest speaker will be Georges Arsenault from P.E.I. Presentation will be in French.

Rappie pie fundraiser

Nov. 2

A rappie pie fuindraiser will be held Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m at the Knights of Columbus hall in Yarmouth. Take out and delivery available.

Ohio Christmas tea

Nov. 3

A Christmas tea will be held at the South Ohio Community Centre on Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Adults $4, children under 12, $2.

Inside washers

Nov. 3

Inside washers registration 7 p.m. at Le Club Acadien in SAR Saturday, Nov. 3. Prizes. Teams will be drawn for. Members and guests over 19.

Fundraiser

Nov. 3

There will be a stamping up charity fundraiser at Camp Peniel Nov. 3 from 9-4. Cost: $25 Bring a bag lunch; coffee tea and supplies provided. Door prizes. Info: Camp Peniel 649-2471.

Exhibit

Nov. 3

There will be a tour of the new exhibit "Facing History" by Tony Scherman and a session to then learn how to make colour scratch drawings in a two-hour program at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Western Branch, Yarmouth, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. All ages.

Cancer fundraiser

Curl For Cancer Funspiel: Saturday Nov. 3 at the Yarmouth Curling Club. A day of fun and fundraising to support of the programs and services of the Canadian Cancer Society. Call 742-4157 for more information or to register a team.

There will be a ladies stampin’ up fundraiser at Camp Peniel Nov. 3. $25. Call the camp or the Truth and the Life Christian Bookstore for tickets by Oct. 31. Learn cardmaking, gift bags, tags. Bring a bag lunch. Tea, coffee, muffins provided.

Printmaking workshop

Nov. 4

A printmaking workshop for children and parents will be held at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Western Branch, Yarmouth on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Simple relief printing techniques will be featured.

A corned beef and cabbage supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, starting at 4:30 at the Carleton Legion, branch 167, sponsored by the ladies auxiliary.

Remembrance service

Nov. 8

There will be a Remembrance service at Maple Grove Education Centre on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. Special tribute to soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Refreshments to follow the service.

Salad tea and sale

Nov. 8

There will be a salad tea and sale at the Holy Trinity parish hall, 61 William St., Thursday Nov. 8. Doors open at 2, tea from 3-5. Adults $4, children under 10, $2. Craft table, white elephant table, bake and book tables.



Remembrance Day program

Nov. 11

On Sunday, Nov. 11,

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Western Branch,will feature special Remembrance Day programs. Stencil printmaking will use Remembrance Day motifs to create original works of art to take home. 2 to 3 p.m. All ages. Gary Gaudet will give a presentation about Yarmouth's wartime heritage at 3 p.m. Hear stories about Yarmouth's World War II involvement.

The regular monthly meeting of the Yarmouth Town and County Sports Heritage Association will be held at the Firefighters’ Museum on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.

Dance

Nov. 16

A fundraiser dance sponsored by the Sou’West Nova Bikers’ Association will be held at the Red Knight on Friday, Nov. 16. (Rappie pie) In support of the Yarmouth and area prostate support group.

Drop-in centre

Wednesdays

Temple Baptist Church will be opening the Solid Rock Cafe drop-in center every Wednesday starting Nov. 7 from 1-4 p.m. Everyone welcome so drop in for a cup of tea or coffee and meet with friends.

Celebration of hope

Nov. 8

The south west district council of the Canadian Cancer Society invites the public to an ecumenical service for all those touched by cancer. (Guest speaker Gilles Boudreau.) Yarmouth North Baptist Church, Thursday, Nov. 8, 7 p.m reception hosted by the ladies auxiliary of the Yarmouth North Baptist Church. Info: 742-4157 or 740-0036.

Bereavement sessions

Nov. 15

St. Ambrose Cathedral is offering an eight-week bereavement session to help with the grieving process. After a lecture in a large group, there are small discussion groups. The sessions start Thursday, Nov. 15. For more information or to register call the parish office at 742-7151 by Nov. 13.

Prostate cancer support group

Monday

The prostate cancer support group meets the first Monday of each month (7 p.m.) at the Lions Club on Parade Street. Spouses welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Cribbage on Monday nights at 7 p.m. ($6) and men’s darts on Thursday nights at 7:30 at the Melbourne Community Centre. Members and guests.
