Jailed for possession
Possession of marijuana has landed a Union Corner man in jail.
John Arnold Coyne, 21, pleaded guilty in Windsor provincial court Monday, Oct. 15 to possession of less than 30 grams of cannabis marijuana, a Schedule II drug under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Coyne to two weeks in custody, to be consecutive to any other currently being served.
Coyne committed the offense in Union Corner Sept. 23.
Jailed for theft
Saint Margaret’s Bay resident Cary David Carriere, 37, pleaded guilty Tuesday, Oct. 16 to theft and use of gasoline valued at less than $5,000.
Judge Tufts sentenced Carriere to 10 days in custody. Carriere stole the gasoline in Garland’s Crossing Feb. 27.
Arson suspect back in court
The 19-year-old Windsor man facing charges in connection with the Sept. 25 blaze that destroyed the Windsor Curling Club and a shed will return to court Oct. 30 for a show cause hearing.
The hearing had been scheduled for Oct. 16, but Judge Tufts adjourned it to Oct. 30.
He also remanded the accused by consent until the Oct. 30 appearance.
The accused faces charges of recklessly or intentionally causing damage by fire to the Windsor Curling Club; recklessly or intentionally causing damage by fire to the shed; committing mischief by causing fire damage costing more than $5,000 to the curling club; committing mischief by causing fire damage costing less than $5,000 to the shed; failing to comply with a court undertaking; and failing to comply with a probation order.
