Oct. 16

The Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association, Region 10, will be meeting on Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Yarmouth. Coordination of the handy persons program will be discussed.

The Ostomy Support Group meeting is opened to ostomates, their families and the general public and will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Yarmouth Hospital in the Bluenose Room at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker : Bernadette Mitchell-McDonald, RN, territory manager, Convatec Ostomy Products.

Inconvenient Truth showing

The Tusket River Environmental Protection Association (TREPA) will be sponsoring a showing of An Inconvenient Truth on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Burridge Community Campus, room 147.

The regular monthly meeting of the Yarmouth Town and County Sports Heritage Association will be held at the Firefighters’ Museum on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.

Blue Mousse and Velvet Bunnies an exhibition of ten original prints is at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch Yarmouth 341 Main St. Local printmakers will be on hand from Thursday, Oct. 18 to Saturday Oct. 20 to offer tours and printmaking workshops to schools as well as members of the general public. Luncheon

A luncheon featuring prize winning chili recipe will be held at the Yarmouth County Museum, 22 Collins St., Friday, Oct. 19, 12 - 2:30. Includes entree, rolls/biscuits, dessert and coffee/tea. Eat in or take out. ($10) Call to reserve at 742-5539.



Haunted village

Oct. 19/20

Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Lower West Pubnico, presents the 6th annual haunted village on Oct. 19 and 20 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost for the tour is $10 for adults, $8 for members and $6 for students; this includes a cabbage soup and molasses cookies. Make reservations by phoning 762-2530.

Theatre workshop

Oct. 19-21

Phillip Clairmont, playwright, actor and stage director will be giving a 12 hour theatre workshop in French Oct. 19, 20 and 21. All aspects of the theatre will be covered. An opportunity for the experienced amateur actor, theatre volunteer including backstage, writing or someone wanting to explore getting involved in any aspect of the theatre. Workshop to be held at the Wedgeport Museum beginning Friday evening Oct.19, all day Saturday and ending Sunday morning Oct. 21. Registration required. Roast beef dinner

A roast beef dinner sponsored by the Fundy Southern Rail Model Railroaders) will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall on Collins Street Saturday, Oct. 20 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Adults $10, children under 12, $5. Take out available.

Halloween Craft and Story Time

On Friday, Oct. 26, 3 to 4 p.m.

children at the Yarmouth branch of the Western Counties Regional Library (ages 3-6) will be making a witch out of toilet paper rolls. The program includes Halloween stories and activities. The St. Andrew’s Scotish Heritage Society’s monthly meeting is on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Beacon Church parlour. Program: a bring and buy auction in support of the society’s scholarship fund.

Halloween celebration

On Saturday Oct. 27, the Firefighters’ Museum of N.S. will be celebrating Halloween with a Halloween party for kids. There’ll be refreshments, games and prizes to be won.

Free admission for those in costume, activities are from 1-4 pm.

Bean supper

A fall harvest coffee party and sale (a variety of tables) will be held at Zion United Baptist Church, 27 Parade St. Saturday Oct. 27 10 until noon.

Turkey supper

There will be a turkey supper at the Kemptville fire hall from 4:30-6 on Oct. 27. Sponsored by the ladies auxiliary of the Kemptville fire department.

Christmas project

Celebration of hope
