Pumpkin crimes among RCMP calls

The police found pumpkin related complaints were somewhat problematic this week. On October 9 at 11:46 p.m., police received a report that two suspicious males were walking along the road near Carleton Corner and smashing pumpkins. A patrol was made and while police discovered ample evidence of pumpkin tampering, the culprits could not be located.

Then on October 10 at 10:30 a.m. a transport truck driver complained that his windshield had been smashed by an airborne pumpkin, while he drove down South Street in Bridgetown. Someone was throwing pumpkins at passing vehicles.

In all, the RCMP responded to 107 calls for assistance between Sunday, October 7 and Monday, October 15. Among these were four false 911s; four false alarms; 30 traffic matters and 16 domestic issues.

Following are highlights of these calls:

-- October 7 at 12:44 p.m. Police received a report of a dangerous driver on Highway 10 near Nictaux. The caller reported that driver was passing other vehicles on a solid line. A patrol as made, but failed to locate the driver.

-- October 7 at 6:04 p.m. Police were called to West Paradise in follow-up to a drug complaint. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a youth for possession of a small quantity of marijuana. The individual, who is on probation, is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

-- October 7 at 6:07 p.m. Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Nictaux. A patrol was made but failed to locate the vehicle.

-- October 7 at 6:17 p.m. Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving around Middleton. A patrol was made and located the driver. Appropriate action was taken.

-- October 7 at 6:49 p.m. A Lawrencetown resident contacted police after discovering that a license plate had been stolen during the night.

-- October 7 at 7:06 p.m. Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from Round Hill. The vehicle was located and the matter resolved.

-- October 8 at 5:14 p.m. Police received a complaint of property damage. A vehicle that was parked at the side of the road was damaged by rock spray from another vehicle.

-- October 8 at 7:17 p.m. A Nictaux caller reported that a silver-coloured xGames stunt bike had been stolen from outside the Needs store.

-- October 9 at 1:46 p.m. A traffic stop in Middleton resulted in a driver being charged with driving while disqualified. The subject was arrested and released, and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

-- October 9 at 3:30 p.m. Police were called to Middleton after receiving a complaint that a male was making obscene comments to passing pedestrians. Police attended and the appropriate action was taken.

-- October 9 at 4:55 p.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a Brooklyn residence. Bathroom and kitchen plumbing was stolen, the investigation continues.

-- October 9 at 9:33 p.m. A Melvern Square resident reported that a car stereo had been stolen.

-- October 10 at 9:40 a.m. Police received a report of a traffic hazard in Port Lorne. A coyote had been killed, and its body was obstructing traffic flow. A police source suggests that they are seeking the Road Runner as a character of interest in the matter.

-- October 10 at 12:26 p.m. Annapolis RCMP assisted the Digby detachment in an investigation into a break and enter into a Cornwallis area property. Police stopped a vehicle in Lequille, the driver was arrested for the break and enter and turned over to the Digby detachment for processing.

-- October 10 at 2:47 p.m. Police received a report of a gas-and-go in Bridgetown.

-- October 10 at 6:24 p.m. Police received a report of shots fired in the Springfield area. Police and DNR did follow-up and suspect that the shots were fired by hunters in small game hunting season.

-- October 10 at 9:26 p.m. Police received a report of a dangerous driver in Cornwallis. A plate check revealed that the license plate had been reported missing in August. The investigation continues.

-- October 11 at 11:56 a.m. Police received a complaint of possible harassment in Lake Pleasant.

-- October 11 at 11 p.m. Police received a report of two individuals climbing on the roof of a business in Middleton. A patrol was made and the matter was resolved.

-- October 12 at 10:08 a.m. A complaint about a dirt bike in Middleton resulted in the driver being stopped and dealt with under the Off Highway Vehicle Act.

-- October 12 at 11:37 a.m. Police received a report of suspicious activity around a Bridgetown school. The investigation continues.

-- October 12 at 4:43 p.m. Police received a report that a cow was wandering down the road in Wilmot. A patrol was made and the cow was herded back into her pasture.

-- October 13 at 7:14 a.m. A Deep Brook an assault complaint resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old female. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court.

-- October 13 at 6:26 p.m. Lequille. Annapolis RCMP assisted Annapolis Royal police in traffic stops. One male driver was arrested after he failed the breathalyzer. Charges are pending. Two other males were arrested and lodged in cells for intoxication and later released.

-- October 14 at 10:22 p.m. Middleton. A concerned citizen contacted police after seeing a suspicious vehicle parked in the neighbourhood.

-- October 15 at 4:44 a.m. Police were called to a noise complaint at a residence in Cornwallis. A patrol was made and the matter was resolved.

Not hard to wonder why this report is full of the rediculous, after all its the week of a full moon, brings out all the crazies, look out the week of November 9th. !!
