New Carol Morrison oils at Rossignol Cultural Centre
A new show of oils by Halifax artist, Carol Morrison and an exhibition of watercolours, pencil drawings and seascapes from the Rossignol Cultural Centre’s permanent collection will end the 2007 season in the Laing and L Galleries.
Included in the Liverpool exhibition is a small, humourous drawing of a lolling sow by Horatio Walker, one of Quebec and Canada’s leading artists (1858-1938).
Born in England, Morrison immigrated to Canada as a young research biologist. Her interest in the natural world led to a second career as an artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
Turning her considerable talent and sensitive eye to the landscape around her, Carol displays in her oils the reflection of riotous colour in gardenscapes from the Public Gardens in Halifax, among others. She also handles, with sensitivity, the muted tones of the fog enshrouded, rocky, coastal shorelife of the village of Blue Rocks, east of Lunenburg, in 12 smaller paintings.
These exhibitions in the Liverpool cultural centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday until Oct. 15. Admission costs are $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and students while children under six can enter without charge
All are welcome. Telephone 354-3067 for more information.
