Pumpkin festival

Le Village historique acadien, Lower West Pubnico is holding a pumpkin festival Thursday, Oct. 11 from 1:30 -3p.m. featuring a variety of pumpkin desserts, tea, coffee and live music. Info: Kathy Nickerson 762-2530.

Belly dance workshop

The Port Maitland Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a food drive for the food bank throughout their fire district on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Bean supper

There will be a bean supper at the Lake George fire hall, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. Proceeds for repairs to the Lake George Church (including fire escape.)

On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. a craft and hobby show will be held at Beacon United Church, 25 Beacon St. New exhibitors, canteen available.

Baked bean supper

There will be a baked bean supper in support of the church roof fundraiser at Le Club Acadien in SAR on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. $6 for adults, $3 for those under 10.

Memorial hymn sing

Oct. 13

A memorial hymn sing will be held at Camp Peniel Oct. 13 at 7. Hymns sung in memory of loved ones for a donation to Camp Peniel. Forms at churches, Camp Peniel or the Christian bookstore on Main Street.

Trail ride

Oct. 14

The Tracey Graves Memorial Trail Ride is being held this year on Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. The ride begins at the Hebron Recreation Centre and proceeds along the Yarmouth trail (old train tracks) to Yarmouth town and goes as far as West Nova Fuels then returns to Hebron. There will be a BBQ at the recreation grounds for the riders when they return. All are welcome to join in. For more information contact Donna Himmelman, 742-8048.

The Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association, Region 10, will be meeting on Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Yarmouth. Coordination of the handy persons program will be discussed.

The Tusket River Environmental Protection Association (TREPA) will be sponsoring a showing of An Inconvenient Truth on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Burridge Community Campus, room 147.

Blue Mousse and Velvet Bunnies an exhibition of ten original prints is at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch Yarmouth 341 Main St. Local printmakers will be on hand from Thursday, Oct. 18 to Saturday Oct. 20 to offer tours and printmaking workshops to schools as well as members of the general public. Haunted village

Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Lower West Pubnico, presents the 6th annual haunted village on Oct. 19 and 20 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost for the tour is $10 for adults, $8 for members and $6 for students; this includes a cabbage soup and molasses cookies. Theatre workshop

Phillip Clairmont, playwright, actor and stage director will be giving a 12 hour theatre workshop in French Oct. 19, 20 and 21. All aspects of the theatre will be covered. An opportunity for the experienced amateur actor, theatre volunteer including backstage, writing or someone wanting to explore getting involved in any aspect of the theatre. Workshop to be held at the Wedgeport Museum beginning Friday evening Oct.19, all day Saturday and ending Sunday morning Oct. 21. Registration required. Roast beef dinner
