Caregiver series

Annual meeting

The Yarmouth Branch of the Canadian Bible Society’s annual meeting is Thursday Oct. 4, 6:30 p.m. at the Austrian Inn – Dayton. The latest initiatives of the Canadian Bible Society will be discussed. Guest: The Rev. Wayne McCarther, district secretary for Nova Scotia.

Exploring Jesus

Registration for 21st Century Jesus an adult exploration of Jesus for the Third Millennium, (a free program for all faiths) is Friday Oct. 5.

Sessions to be held at Sobey's community room, Starrs Road (Saturday morning) and at Beacon United Church, Beacon Street, (Wednesday evening). To register call 742-4320.

Truck pull

A 4x4 truck pull will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall (Rocco Point) Saturday, Oct.6. Registration at 10:30 am. Rappie pie, hot dogs, beer garden. (Rain date Sunday, Oct 7.)



Art display

A celebration in glass will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2-5 p.m. at 266 Cape St. Mary’s Road. The work of Dorothy Gorlach will be displayed. Profit goes to Friends of Mavillette Beach.

Bake/yard sale

The Arcadia Women's Institute is having a bake and yard sale on Oct.6 at 8:30 at Arcadia Hall. Proceeds for the Yarmouth Hospital.

Prints/art gallery

An afternoon devoted to prints and printmaking will be held at the

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch Yarmouth 341 Main St., Sunday, Oct. 7, 1 to 4 p.m. Admission by donation

Activities include a video and tour of the Blue Mousse and Velvet Bunnies exhibit, and a hands-on introduction to relief printing. Suitable for all ages, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

A memorial hymn sing will be held at Camp Peniel Oct. 13 at 7. Hymns sung in memory of loved ones for a donation to Camp Peniel. Forms at churches, Camp Peniel or the Christian bookstore on Main Street.

Theatre workshop

Phillip Clairmont, playwright, actor and stage director will be giving a 12 hour theatre workshop in French Oct. 19, 20 and 21. All aspects of the theatre will be covered. An opportunity for the experienced amateur actor, theatre volunteer including backstage, writing or someone wanting to explore getting involved in any aspect of the theatre. Workshop to be held at the Wedgeport Museum beginning Friday evening Oct.19, all day Saturday and ending Sunday morning Oct. 21. Registration required.
