A fundraiser for the Windsor Curling Club may have been planned for this weekend, but by 6 p.m. today the only thing left of the club was its charred facade. The rest of the structure was destroyed.
The Windsor Fire Department responded to the call at 99 Albert St. shortly before 4 p.m. this afternoon and received mutual aid from the Brooklyn, Hantsport, Wolfville, New Minas and Kentville Fire Departments.
Heavy, oppressive smoke loomed over the town and could be seen from miles away, drawing crowds of onlookers. An additional fire broke out as flames spread to a shed on Grey St. just behind the Albert St. location.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and no injuries were reported as of this posting. Additional information will appear on NovaNewsNow.com as details become available.
