GRANT, Ronald Albert, “Tom” - 87, passed away peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS, Saturday, September 15, 2007. He was the son of the late John and Lenora (Sheridan) Grant. Tom was born in Nictaux and lived his whole life there among family and friends. Tom was a quiet, gentle, respectful man who led by example. Greatness is so often incorrectly measured by money, power and success. Tom was a “great” man because he treated everyone with the utmost care and respect. He never complained and always encouraged. Tom deeply loved his family and friends. As Tom takes his place beside God, his leading example will live on through all who knew him. Tom retired from Thompson’s Moving Company, after 30 years of dedicated service. In his earlier years, Tom lent his hands to farm work and carpentry. He loved the outdoors and for many years enjoyed hunting, driving his three-wheeler, and gardening. Tom was also an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and spent many hours watching hockey and cheering on his favorite team. Tom loved to read, solve lexicons and word searches, as well as play cards. He was a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church. Tom will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Doris (Taylor); son, Brian (Mora), Nictaux and their two children, April (Jeff) and Melissa; daughter, Carol (Gilbert), Lower Sackville and their three children, Craig (Paula), Jody (Lisa) and Carla (Derrick). He is also survived by his brother, Gerald (Norma), Nictaux and great grandchildren: Adam, Chantal, Bailey, Olivia and Emily. Tom was pre-deceased by his three brothers: Percy, Cecil, Vernon “Jim”, as well as his two sisters, Evelyn Cunningham and Jane Grant. Visitation was held at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 on Sunday, September 16th from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Nictaux Baptist Church on Monday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Bill McLeod officiated. Interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery. Donations may be made to Nictaux Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
