Shoreline cleanup

The Tusket River Environmental Protection Association (TREPA) will be conducting a TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup Saturday, Sept. 22, at 10:30 a.m. Meet at Kelley's Cove, Sunday Point Road, Yarmouth County. Gloves and bags provided. For further information call 742-5542.

Gospel concert

There will be a gospel concert at Bay View Baptist Church in Port Maitland on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. with Canadian gospel music award winner Elizabeth Deveau. Free will offering.

Beacon Church anniversary

Sept. 23

On Sept. 23 Beacon United Church will celebrate its 40th anniversary. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Rev. John Moses, who grew up in Yarmouth County and who is now ministering at Trinity United in Charlottetown will be the guest speaker. Following the worship service, there will be a

time of fellowship, refreshments and a display of pictures and artifacts in the church auditorium.

Community breakfast

A community breakfast will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall, Collins Street, Yarmouth, on Sunday, Sept. 23 from 9:30-12. Donations accepted at the door.

Marriage course

Sept. 23

St. Ambrose Cathedral will be running a marriage course starting on Sunday, Sept. 23. Organizers say this course is practical, giving married couples the tools they need to build a strong, long lasting marriag. It consists of a meal, DVD, and private discussion time for the couples. Cost is $130 for the eight meals and materials. Preregistration is essential. Call the parish office at 742-7151 to register.

A fundraiser for Allan Doucette who has had a hip operation and has to travel to Halifax for medical appointments, will be held at the Twin Village Social Club in Amirault’s Hill Sept. 29 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Seafood chowder, rappie pie, bake sale and Chinese auction.
