Captain Lloyd David Sharp - age 58, of Aylesford, Kings County, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 31, 2007, at home. Born on March 2nd, 1949, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, he was the only son of the late George and Mary (McGowan) Sharp. Lloyd spent many years working aboard various ships, receiving his Captain's papers in 1978. He was most recently employed by DND, as 1st mate aboard the Canadian Forces Auxillary Vessel, St. Charles, retiring in 1990. Until recently, he was an active member in the Aylesford Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Margaret Thorpe; son, Stephen, Falmouth; daughters, Margaret "Peggy" (Brian) MacMillan, Falmouth; Rachael Sharp (Robert Elliott), Windsor; grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Elijah MacMillan; Madison and Kyle Elliott. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. There was no visitation by request. Burial will take place at a later date, at sea. SULLIVAN, John LeRoy – 60, Havelock, Digby Co., passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born May 18, 1947 in Digby, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Winnifred (Hall) Sullivan. He was a Certified Engineering Technologist, and began his career working in electric utilities in Halifax and Trenton, NS, Fredericton, NB, Digby, NS and Iqaluit, NU. John also worked as director of engineering at Yarmouth Regional Hospital for a number of years. In his later years, John owned and operated his own forestry company. He was a member of the Rotary Club in both Yarmouth and Iqaluit, the Federation of Nova Scotia Woodland Owners, and was actively involved in the Havelock Community Centre and Seniors’ Group. John was a great story-teller and a devoted family man. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Jeannette (LeBlanc) Sullivan, as well as daughters, Shannon (Richard) Hatfield and Shelley (Paul) Valaire , both of Sherwood Park, Alberta; loving grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Foreman, Findlay Hatfield and Christopher Valaire; a sister, Valerie (Glenn) MacDonald, Chance Harbour, Pictou Co. The family received visitors from 7-9 Sunday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 AM, Monday, September 3 from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Weymouth, Father Keith Billard officiated. Interment followed in St. Jean-Baptiste parish cemetery, Corberrie. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Mildred Helen Morse - 86, South Berwick, Kings Co. It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister & friend Mildred “Nany”, who left us to be with our lord on Saturday September 1, 2007, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Aylesford, Kings Co. she was a daughter of the late Fred and Madeline (Keddy) Gates. Mildred enjoyed sewing & gardening and had been employed at the Grand View Manor in the dietary department for several years. She was a member of the Aylesford Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Meldrum, Harmony, Kings Co.; step-children, Jory (Alex) Smith, Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co.; Larry (Stephanie) Morse, Berwick; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Violet) Gates, Aylesford; Max (Gail) Gates, Kingston, Kings Co.; sisters, Jean (John) MacNeill, Aylesford; Marjorie (Howard) Bower, Berwick; numerous nieces & nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Howard Jefferson; second husband, Elwood Morse; companion, Harold VanBuskirk; daughter, Jeanne Keddy; stepson, Jimmy Morse; brothers, Russell & Boyd Gates. There was visitation for Mildred 7-9 p.m. Tuesday September 4, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service was held 2 p.m. Wednesday September 5. Rev. Elizabeth Johnson officiated. CHETWYND, Merle Elaine - 56, Yarmouth, passed away September 1, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on May 15, 1951, in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of Leslie and Ruth (MacAdams) Spinney. She was an adherent of Argyle Pubnico Baptist Church. Merle enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading. She is survived by daughter, Billie Jo (Elvis) Leroy, Stephenville, N.L.; sons, David (Jocelyn) and Phillip (Laura), both of Pubnico; grandchildren, Karan, Abigail and William Leroy, Luke, Keigan, Nadia and Rylan Chetwynd. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles. Visitation was held Tuesday, September 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, where funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Pitcher officiating. MUISE, Grace Jennie – 91, Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2007, in the manor. Born March 10, 1916 in Quinan, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Nickerson) Davis. Grace was a homemaker, and she enjoyed being outdoors and flower gardening. Surviving are sons, Joseph (Joyce), William (Gert), and James Donald (Doris), all of Yarmouth; daughters, Catherine (James) Letemplier, Yarmouth; Barbara (Winston) Sabean, Deerfield; Ann Wallace, Yarmouth; Debbie (Terry) Nickerson, Wood’s Harbour; Marjorie (David) Crosby, Dayton; Sheila (Herbie) Malone, Yarmouth; 38 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Norman Muise; a daughter, two sisters, two brothers and three grandchildren. Visitation took place from 7-9 Monday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10 AM, Tuesday, September 4 from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert Street, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Walter Ellsworth Lutz - 83, Aylesford, Kings Co. passed away peacefully on Saturday September 1, 2007, in the Evergreen Home For Special Care, Kentville. Born in Aylesford, he was the youngest son of the late Spurgeon and Rachel (Brennan) Lutz. In his younger years his love of music and his talent for playing the guitar was enjoyed by his friends & family. He is survived by a sister, Evelyn Sanford, Auburn, Kings Co.; daughters,

The family would like to say a special thank you to all the staff who cared for Walter at the Valley Regional Hospital, the second floor palliative care nursing staff at Evergreen Home, also to Chaplain Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet, Anna Plaskett & Paul Wood (at the Evergreen Home) for ministering to him in music, song & prayer. Bullerwell, Lena Evelyn - 83, of Kempt St., Yarmouth, passed away August 30, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Sandford, Yarmouth Co., on October 31, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Harris and Lou Allen. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 61 for over 50 years. She was also a member of “Tops” and the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth LeFort, Lower Sackville; Regena Doucette, Sand Beach, Yarmouth Co.; Jacqueline (David) Colquhoun, Canaan, Yarmouth Co.; sons, Randy, Halifax; John (Patricia), Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co.; Michael (Becky), South Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; daughter Sherri-Leah in infancy; brothers, James, Donald, Lloyd; son, Joseph, and sister, Norma. Visitation was held in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, Saturday, Sept. 1 for family from 2-4 p.m. and for the public from 7-9 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary Branch No. 61 held a service on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral service was held in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m., Pastor Jim Agrell officiated. Interment in Darling’s Lake Cemetery.
