Being accountable - what's with the youth?
Letter to the Yarmouth Vanguard
Forget the youth justice. I want to know who the person is who committed a crime so I can be on the look out. Why hide their names? If they committed a crime they should stand accountable not just to a court but also the public. And take adult responsibility for their crime. Right now they know they can do crime and get a slap on the wrist.

A young guy stabbed a cabbie and then he did it again resulting in death. A young guy was in court for car theft and he did it again resulting in death.

Three girls, some on prior charges, attacked a senior. A guy stabbed four people at this point no death, but what are the victims going to suffer in the years ahead? And remember he took a knife with him. Is that premeditation, planning something?

Where is the delight in throwing a rock through a plate glass window? The business will have a deductible so it’s cash out of pocket for the business. But I guess it means esteem in the eyes of the other thugs. I don’t want them for my friends.

I cannot understand where their minds are. They don’t realize that 25 years down the road wirth a criminal charge they cannot get a job that requires them to go to the USA.

At 15 or 16 they may not care but later on people will look down on them. Are they (federal penitentiary)Dorchester material waiting to happen?

I am two years into my seventh decade and I can only say the worst thing I did was hide behind the school and steal a cigarette.

I am not perfect but I try to respect peoples’ rights. These rights are rights to my body, rights to my opinions (I always try not to offend)—why can’t they?

Is this the future of our youth? Our country? Our church if they have one?
