Lighthouse festival set for weekend
Come and enjoy the “Lights Along the Shore” Lighthouse Festival happening along the Lighthouse Route and Evangeline Trail from Friday, Sept. 14 to Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007. It’s an opportunity to learn more about the seafaring heritage and history behind the lighthouses in Southwest Nova Scotia. One will have an opportunity to view many lighthouses and experience the atmosphere surrounding these historical structures.

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in fun and heritage activities. Events this year include a fisherman breakfast at Peggy’s Cove Light, whale watching and birding tours to lights, a scavenger hunt at Fort Point Lighthouse in Liverpool, pancake breakfasts at Cape Forchu Light near Yarmouth, a lobster boil, view two Fresnel Lens at the Shelburne County Museum, self-guided tours to Prim Point Light near Digby, slide show and talk by Chris Mills, author of Lighthouse Legacies at Seal Island Light and Sandy Point Light, chowder luncheons, local artisans demonstrating their crafts at lights, entertainment at lights, moonlight tours and candlelight graveyard tours, and much more. Weekend cycling packages and overnight packages are available.

Information and a colourful brochure will be available at your local visitor information centre highlighting the activities and attractions during the festival.
