Teens to offer service to seniors
Senior service
A new service for seniors in Shelburne starts up this fall.
The youth volunteer program of Teens Lending Care will see teens assigned to run errands for local seniors once a week.
If the demand is there, organizers say they will consider holding more than one errand run a week.
The program is free for seniors. Requests should be called in on Mondays to the TLC Pharmasave by 3 p.m.
Errands will be completed on Wednesdays between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Students will come to the senior’s home to pick up a list, money, etc. and return with the items. There will be a for senior and the teen to complete each time an errand is finished.
For more information on the program call 875-4007.
For any students in grades 8-12 interested in taking part in the program which will also involve helping at Roseway Hospital and Roseway Manor, an orientation will take place at the Roseway Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 2:30 p.m. The orientation must be taken before teens can volunteer.
