August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued SULLIVAN, John LeRoy, 60, of Havelock, Digby Co., died Aug. 31, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Funeral Sept. 3 in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Weymouth, with burial in St. Jean-Baptiste Parish Cemetery, Corberrie.
August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued Carolyn Jean Perry, age 47, of Stewiacke, Colchester County, formerly of Brooklyn and Windsor Forks, Hants County, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2007, at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born on June 8, 1960, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Ellis and Elva (Saulnier) Redden of Windsor Forks. Carolyn was former owner of Aunt “T” Gift Shop, Brooklyn. Besides her parents Ellis and Elva, she is survived by a son, James (Kelly) Perry, Halifax; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Perry; sister, Valerie (John) Arnold, Welsford; brother, Quentin Redden, Windsor Forks; special sister-in-law, Louise Roach, Stewiacke, who helped and care for Carolyn, in her time of illness; she is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her husband, William “Billy” Joseph Perry (February 12, 2002). Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 30, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Henderson officiated, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Interment was in the Windsor Forks Community Cemetery, Windsor Forks. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Carolyn, were requested to be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Building Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued Justin Tyler Crowell – 24, of Red Deer, Alberta, formerly of Wolfville and Kentville, passed away in Red Deer on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 as a result of injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Bruce Crowell and Margaret MacNeil. He graduated from Horton High School, Greenwich and the Nova Scotia Community College, Kingstec Campus, Kentville. He was a mechanic by trade and had a passion for working with motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Logan Crowell (Lisa Ladouceur), Dartmouth and his former foster parents, Darryl and Giselle Anderson, Kentville. Cremation took place in Red Deer and there will be no visitation by family request. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2007 in the Cambridge Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued Furlotte; Mary Stella was born on December 1, 1921 and died in Port Alberni, BC on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 85 years of age following complications from surgery. Stella was born the youngest of 9 children to Paul and Marie Savoy (nee Arseneau) in Campbellton, New Brunswick. She is predeceased by her parents, siblings and her late husband Joseph Lawrence Furlotte. She is survived by her children William Donald Furlotte (Bernice) of Wilmot, Nova Scotia, Cheryl-Ann Findlay of Houston, Texas and Linda St. Claire (Ian) of Port Alberni, her beloved grandchildren: Corbin Gislason of Prince George and Laura Gislason of Port Alberni who knew her as “Buddy”, Jeffery Furlotte (Jennifer) of Aylesford, Nova Scotia and LeeAnn Furlotte of Cold Lake, Alberta, great grandchildren Keegan and Quin of Aylesford, Nova Scotia and numerous nieces and nephews. Stella leaves behind a legacy of hard work and community spirit. She worked in numerous places in Port Alberni and volunteered for 18 years for Fir Park and Echo Village, which she recieved a “Citizen of the Year” award for. Stella spent the last year of her life living at Echo Village in Port Alberni. All of her work and volunteer hours cenetered around serving people. She especially loved young people, dancing and spending time with her family. There will be no service by request. Cremation. August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued Ley, Elsie Jean- 71 passed away August 29, 2007 at the Annapolis Community Health Center, Annapolis Royal. Born in Yarmouth she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Frederica (Allen) Moores. Elsie was a librarian. She is survived by her sons, Kevin, of Montreal and Allen, of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey, sister Betty Kohl of California and brother Joe Moores of Florida. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. No visitation by request. A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday September 8th from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Annapolis Royal. Rev. Canon Ken Vaughan officiated. August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued HARVEY, Ralph Lindenburgh, 78, Brooklyn, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Windsor, NS, he was the son of the late George and Bessie (Dearman) Harvey. Ralph worked at McLean Esso, until he purchased the Irving Station. He ran R.L.Harvey’s Service Station and R.L. Harvey’s Trucking Company for 33 years. Some of his favourite pastimes were spent watching his children and grandchildren truck and tractor pulling. Ralph was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching the “Lonestar” station with his four legged furry friend “Cuddles”, who is now at his side. Ralph is survived by his daughters, Angie (Mike) Brown, Krista (Peter) Doucette, Darlene (Phillip) Lunn, Nancy (Gary) Ross, Lisa (Mike) Barkhouse, his sons, Larry (Sharon) Harvey, Steve (Annie) Harvey, Michael (Sherry) Harvey, sister, Joyce Levey, 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ralph is also survived by former daughter-in-law Betty Harvey and son-in-law Richard Tracey. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, partner and best friend of 56 years, Dolly M. (Aker) Harvey. He was also predeceased by sons Paul, Dane, and daughter-in-law Debbie, sister Kathleen Brown and brothers Donald, Norman and Herman Harvey. Born in Sand Beach, she was a daughter of the late Rene and Lorette (Hubbard) Cottreau. She was a homemaker all her life, and she loved knitting and quilting when she was younger. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bruce Sr.; daughter, Susan (John) Purdy, Arcadia; sons, David (Theresa), Cedar Drive, Hebron; Bruce Jr. (Nadine), Arcadia; brothers, Leonard, Sand Beach; Arnie, Deerfield; sisters, Emma Hattie, Sand Beach; Evelyn Robichaud, Ontario; Diane (Austin) Saulnier, Abrams River; grandchildren, Devon, Dawn Messenger, Corrie Bain, Katie Amiro, Holly Gallagher, David Purdy, Amy Purdy, Nicky Purdy; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Clarence. Visitation was held Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral home, Yarmouth, where a funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued Heinrich, Virginia Louise - 86, Yarmouth, passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 30, 2007. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio on February 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles Kelly and Roda (Brunton) Kelly. Ginny was a retired commercial loans officer and worked more than twenty years at her profession in Houston, Texas before retiring with her husband during the 1990’s in Punta Gorda, Florida. She loved opera and symphony music and attended many performances while living in Houston. Bridge was her great passion and when she could no longer leave her home to play, she learned to play on her computer. She moved to Yarmouth in 2000 after the death of her husband to escape the hurricanes and to be near her son. Denny Morrow, and her granddaughter, Anna Kazi. She made new friends in Yarmouth through her attendance at Holy Trinity Anglican Church and through her participation in local bridge groups. She loved the scenic beauty of Yarmouth and was often touched by the kindness and friendliness of the people in her new home. She was especially grateful for the home visits from friends at Holy Trinity during the time of her ill health. Surviving are her three sons, Denny Morrow, Yarmouth; David Morrow, Columbus, Ohio; and Darrell Morrow, Mabalacat, Phillippines; grandchildren Anna, Christopher, Amy, Maria and Ben and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Morrow, her second husband, Edward Heinrich, three sisters and three brothers. A committal service will take place for Ginny at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda, Florida at a later date. A reception in memory of Virginia Heinrich for friends and relatives was held at the home of her son, Denny Morrow, at 481 Main Street, Yarmouth on Saturday, September 8 between 2-4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses.
August 26, 2007 to September 1, 2007, continued CUSHING, Marion Louise, 99, Dartmouth, passed away at Oakwood Terrace on Friday, August 31, 2007. Born in Hubbard’s Cove, Halifax County, August 23, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Bolton and Annie (Stoddart) Shankel. She grew up in South Williamston, Annapolis County. After graduation from Lawrencetown High School, she attended Acadia University, graduating with a B.A. Degree in 1929. She taught school for 21 years in Liverpool, Kingston, Middleton and Shelburne, retiring in 1969. She was active in the Shelburne United Baptist Church, the Roseway Hospital Auxiliary, the Canadian Red Cross and the CNIB. She is survived by her son David and wife Jane, their children Nancy, Sydney, Australia, Susan, Dartmouth and Paul, Calgary; son Burke and wife Bernadette of Dartmouth, their children, Anthony, London, Ont, Tim, Ithaca, NY, Natalie, Calgary, AB, Stephen, Guelph, Ont. And Willie, Dartmouth; and son Bob and wife Mary, Beaverdam, their children Kelly, Calgary, AB and Meredith, Vancouver, BC; eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George F.B. Cushing (1956) and her sister Eileen M. MacDonalds (1993). Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment in Pine Grove cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or the CNIB.
