Waterman, Thurlow D. —81, of Meteghan, Digby County, formerly of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in North Brookfield, he was the son of the late Edward and Ida (Fancy) Waterman. Thurlow was a former fire tower operator for the Department of Natural Resources and was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was especially fond of his grandchildren. He is survived by daughters, Sandra (Blaine) White of Caledonia, Lynn (Felix) Deveau of Meteghan; sons: Denton (Linda), Peter (Margaret), Brian (Elizabeth), Jimmy (Dale), and Chris (Janice) all of Caledonia; 17 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Amy Fancy; daughter Roseline Weare, sisters Esther and Helen and brothers Emery and Doug. Funeral service was held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in Caledonia United Baptist Church. Rev. John Boddy officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Hibernia Road, Caledonia. of Argyle Head, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007. Born in NYC, Mrs. Kaupp lived most of her life in Short Hills. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Rose of Lima Church, the Christ Child Society of Summit, the Short Hills Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Morris County Golf Club. She was predeceased by her parents William Gordon and Sylvia Dunnellan French, and her beloved husband Clement Nathan Kaupp. She is survived by children William P. and his wife Geraldine Kaupp, Clement N. Jr. and his wife Jennifer Kaupp, Peter and his wife Vicky Kaupp, Julie and her husband Sidney Swinimer and Matthew J. Kaupp, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral was from Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield on Wednesday, August 29. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills. CUVILIER, Mabel M. - 90, Hantsport and Windsor, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born April 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Manson E. and J. Irene (Boyd) Sanford. Mabel was a member of St. James United Church, Hantsport and a life member of the UCW. She is survived by sister, Anne Carey, Avonport and now at the Wolfville Nursing Home, and also several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Cuvilier; sister, Freda Andrews; brothers, Avon, Morien and Orris. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 29. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 30, in St. James United Church, 17 Prince St., Hantsport, Rev. Karen Pearce officiated. HILL, Esther Mae –78, of Hassetts, died Aug. 26, 2007, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Hassetts, she was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Linda; brother, Gordon; sister, Edna. Funeral service Aug. 29 in St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Southville, with burial in the parish cemetery.

MESSENGER, Loran Gerald, Clark’s Harbour, Shelburne County, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 21, 2007. He was just shy of his 83rd birthday. Born in Clark’s Harbour, September 18, 1924, he was a son of the late Thomas Smith and Louise Mae (Nickerson) Messenger. He was employed by Standard Paving Ltd., for 24 years. He was also employed by Connor Brothers Ltd. in Clark’s Harbour. He served during the Second World War with the Royal Regiment of Canada and was in Holland when it was liberated. On any fine day Gerald could be seen going around town on his new red scooter which he was very proud of. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, as well as his cat Misty, who was always by his side. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Virginia (O’Connell) Messenger; daughters, Pamela (Beverley) Atkinson, Stoney Island and Jeri-Lynn (Adlai) Cunningham, Newellton; grandson, Kerry (Kim d’Eon) Cunningham, Toronto; grand-daughter, Krista (Trevor) Nickerson, Newellton; brother, Donald (Norma), Clark’s Harbour; sisters-in-law, Edith Messenger and Katherine Duffy. He was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence, Carl, Bernard, Bruce; sisters, Olive, Valerie; son-in-law, Ralph Quinlan. Funeral service was held on Friday, August 24, 2007 in H. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Rev. Shaun Hatfield officiating. Burial was in Oakvale Cemetery, Clark’s Harbour. Mauger, Herbert Charles—70 of Liverpool and Dayspring, passed away at Queen’s Manor, Liverpool, August 24, 2007. Born in Petites, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late Ross and Harriet (Francis) Mauger. In his early years, he went fishing with his father and later on in life he joined the Canadian Coast Guard in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and was a Quartermaster on the CCGS Labrador. In 1967, he moved his family to Lunenburg NS. He went fishing on various Scallop Vessels fishing out of Lunenburg and Riverport as well as longlining out of Lockport until, due to illness, he stopped fishing in 1990. He loved having family and friends around him and enjoyed hunting and fishing, before his illness. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Deloris (Walters), daughters Tina (Wayne) Risser, Dayspring, NS whom he resided with prior to going to Queens Manor; Gloria (Gerald) Leamon, Isle Aux Mort, Newfoundland; sons Brian (Eva) Mauger, Burnt Islands, Newfoundland; Scott (Lisa) Mauger, Liverpool NS; stepsons John (Erna) Maddox, Bridgewater, NS; David (Shelley) Maddox, Pinegrove, NS; James Maddox, Nappinee, Ontario; nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one great grandchild; one step great grandchild; sister Elsie (Don) Organ, Little Bay, Newfoundland; brothers Dan Mauger, Newfoundland; Wilfred (Rose) Mauger, Halifax, NS; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James Mauger and Cecil Mauger. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were under the direction of C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, NS. Interment of ashes has taken place in Dayspring Cemetery, Rev. Ivan Norton officiated. Truell, Fredrick - On August 23, 2007, Mr. Fredrick Truell of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 79 years. Fredrick is survived by his son Rick Truell of Edmonton, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Marion (Pinckney) in 2006. Fred was born and spent his early years in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He was employed at Guest's Hardware Store before starting his military career. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
