My Story

September 6 Some of the 2007 MY STORY images will be on view at the Chapel Gallery at ARCAC starting on September 6 through September 30. A reception will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Tilestons will be showing slides and talking about plans for the 2008 MY STORY photo project.

Ox pull, pig roast

September 8 On Saturday, Sept. 8 the Clementsvale and District Recreation Commission is hosting the 2nd annual Ox Pull (at the old school) and Pig Roast Supper (held in the Foresters Hall). Starts at 10 a.m. Activities for children, plus the ox-pull at 11 a.m., live music from 1 to 3 p.m., park dedication at 3:30 p.m., and supper sittings at 4:30 and 6 p.m. Tickets required. Contact Freda Gammon at 467-0427. Prices are: Family $25 (two adults plus children); Single $10; Children 6-12 years $5; and under 5 are free.

Fundy Coast Classic Car Show

September 8 All are welcome to the first Fundy Coast Classic Car Show, being held at the Cove Oceanfront Campground in Parker's Cove on Saturday, Sept. 8. Registration for entrants begins at 10:30 a.m. -- pre-registration not required. Public viewing from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 - all proceeds benefit Fundy Communities Development Association. Come out and enjoy music, a 50/50 draw, and awards in 13 classes. September 8 Community Arts Exhibit upstairs at ARTsPLACE in Annapolis Royal from Sept. 8 to Sept. 23. Peoples' Choice Award.

Appreciation luncheon

September 8 There will be a luncheon for Dr. Goddard and Heather Lutz at the Bear River Firehall on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. Come out and show your appreciation for all they have done. For more information, call 467-3611.

Community Corn Boil

September 9 Emmanuel Congregational Church, 37 Gates Ave, Middleton, invites you to our annual Community Corn Boil to be held in the church parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 4. to 6:30 p.m. Music will be provided by various individuals and groups. Admission is free. Come and get Fall started right by meeting with your neighbours while enjoying some tasty corn and good music.

Pulled pork dinner

September 9 A Barbeque Pulled Pork Dinner will be held Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Adults $10; Children $5.00. ‘Pig out' at this fabulous pool fundraiser. Fall ministries

September 9 Fall ministries resume at Paradise United Baptist Church beginning September 9. Sunday School for ages 3+ including teens and adults at 9:30 a.m. Children's Church during the Sunday morning worship hour at 11 a.m. Sunday evening, Wednesday evening, and Thursday morning Bible studies. Valley Gardeners Club

September 10 The monthly meeting of the Valley Gardeners Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Kentville Agricultural Research Centre. September 11 The first autumn cancer meeting will be held at 7:30 pm in the level 1 meeting room of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. There is no parking fee to attend. Bring a friend and support the Annapolis East Unit.

Acoustic Jam

September 11 Come to the Emmanuel Congregational Church at 37 Gates Ave, Middleton and listen to acoustic music from 7:30 to 9:30, (every Tuesday).

Bridgetown Active Living Fair

September 12 The Town of Bridgetown and the Bridgetown Community Recreation Association will be holding the Bridgetown Area Fall/Winter Active Living Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 12. Strawberry supper

September 12 Strawberry Supper at the Christian Fellowship Centre in Wilmot from 4:30 to 6:30. Adults: $8; Children $4.50; Family of 4: $25. Treat yourself to one more taste of our local valley strawberries. New this year – a Silent Auction.

Hockey registration

September 12/13/15/20 Hockey Registration for Middleton & District Minor Hockey begins. Registration times are Sept. 12, 6:30-8:30p.m.; Sept. 13, 6:30-8:30pm; Sept. 15, during Active Living Fair; Sept. 20, 6:30-8:30p.m. Early registration discounts apply on Sept. 12 & 13 only.

Chinese Auction

September 13 A Chinese Auction will be held at the Nictaux Fire Hall on September 13. Doors open at noon, draw begins at 7:30 p.m. 5050 draw and bake table. Proceeds to the Nictaux Hospital Auxiliary. Contact person is M. Martyn (825-3386).

Quilt & rug show

September 14-15 Quilt & Rug Show at the St. James Anglican Church Hall, Bridgetown. Registration on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. Show on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission $2. Sponsored by the Anglican Parish, Bridgetown.

Middleton's Active Living Fair

September 15 Middleton’s Active Living Fair & Gigantic Yard Sale is on Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Middleton Arena between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Register for your fall sport and group activities, watch a variety of demonstrations, get upcoming events information and also gather service community information to take home. There’s a Higantic Yard Sale in half of the arena too. This event is organized and hosted by the Town of Middleton’s Community & Economic Development Department. Admission to the public is free.

Turkey supper fundraiser

September 15 Turkey Dinner & Presentation on the Bay of Fundy's Mysterious Isle Haute at the Port George Recreation Center. Enjoy a fine turkey dinner. Dan Conlin of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic will do a presentation on the Isle Haute. Dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15, reserve by calling Ken at 584-3819. Proceeds to the Mount Hanley School House Museum.

A Fair

September 15 “A Fair” at the St. James Anglican Church in Bridgetown. Yard sale from 8am to noon and children’s games from 10 to noon.

Ciderfest Silent Auction

September 15 Bridgetown and Area Friends of the Library is sponsoring a silent auction of quality craft goods and services in the James House from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. A Ciderfest Toonie special of hot dog and pop will be available. The draw for the Fundraiser Sampler Quilt raffle is at 4 p.m. Tickets ($2, or three for $5) are available at the Library.

GiganticYard Sale

September 15 Middleton’s Gigantic Yard Sale, held in conjunction with the Active Living Fair on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Middleton Arena. An opportunity for individuals and/or groups to sell, buy, trade household items, sporting goods, etc. Table rental fee is $10 and registration deadline is September 7. Contact Middleton Recreation at 825-6611 to register.

Hooking workshop

September 15 A Rug Hooking Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North Hills Museum on September 15. Learn basics with instructor Kay Magwood. $25 fee includes kit. Registration by September 1 required. Info: 532-2168.

Church roll call

September 16 154th Anniversary Roll Call Service of the Clarence Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Guest speaker is Rev. Dr. George Allen, guest soloist is Jean Marshall Betuik. Everyone welcome.

Rug Hooking Exhibit

September 16-21 Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia, will be having a rug exhibit at Cornwallis base, Sept 16-21. Admission is free and all are welcome. Hours Monday 1-5, 6-8; Tuesday 9-12,1-5,6-8; Wednesday 9-12, 1-5; Thurday 9-12, 1-5, 6-8.

Apple pie fundraiser

September 20 The Annapolis Royal School Band apple pie fundraiser is under way. Pies $7, Crisps $6, 9-inch fall mums $12. Contact a band member by September 20 to place your order or call 532-0444. Pick up day is Saturday, Sept. 29. Thank you for your support.

Time, Talent, Treasures Auction

September 22 All are welcome to attend an auction sponsored by the Parish Council of St. Louis Catholic Church in Annapolis Royal. The auction will take place at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. Proceeds go towards church repairs. For information call Eileen (665-2440) or Kay (532-0746)
