August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued Graham Charles Rafuse, age 75, of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on August 7, 1932, in Upper Vaughan, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the youngest son of the late Charles and Ethel (Reece) Rafuse. Graham graduated from Kay Anslow’s School of Business, Windsor. He was employed as an accountant at R. D. Holmes, Windsor, for 25 years, and then at the Canadian Tire Store, Bedford, for 17 years. He enjoyed his cats, and kept active with square dancing and gardening. He was a member of the Upper Vaughan Baptist Church. Graham is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Helen Sweet “Honey” Watson; he is also survived by his brothers, Herman (Doris) Rafuse, Lower Vaughan; James “Jim” (Marion) Rafuse, Chester Basin; sisters, Frances (Armstrong) Manzer, Windsor; Jennie Rafuse, Upper Vaughan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite “Marg” Church (1994); and a sister in infancy, Myrna Ellen Mary Rafuse (1945); brother, Elmer “Bud” Rafuse (1987); sister-in-law, Lillian Rafuse (1993); brothers-in-law, Donald Armstrong (1966); Samuel Rafuse (1993); Lawson Church (2004); Bernard Manzer (2004); and several nieces and nephews. Visitations was 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 23, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Darryl Dykens and the Rev. E. E. Hill officiated, followed by a reception in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre. Interment was held at the Lakeview Cemetery, Upper Vaughan. August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued LeBLANC, John Stephen - 73, Melbourne, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully August 21, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Melbourne, he was a son of the late Eli and Eva LeBlanc. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, was a fisherman and worked in construction all his working life. He loved gardening and was an outdoorsman, very loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed his grandchildren to the fullest. John never lost his great sense of humour. August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued COCHRANE, Emma B. - We are very sad to announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in her 89th year. The eldest of nine children born to the late William and Margaret Singer, she learned the meaning of responsibility and industrious in her youth. She carried those traits throughout her life. Mom honed her skills as a wonderful cook when she worked for Parson’s in the late 40’s. She had a love for learning and after high school took many night courses while raising her family. She was a valued employee of the Hants Community Hospital for many years and continued to volunteer there until the age of 75. Mom lived her life with strength and purpose and was there for all who needed her. She was a woman of strong faith and was very involved with the United Church of Canada and her community. Mom’s compassion, elegance and wit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her desire for family closeness continued as a cherished “Nan” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she lavished with affection, praise and indelible memories. Beloved wife for 45 years to Jack, who died in 1985; devoted mother of Kenneth, Newport; Karen (Blair) Boyd, Toronto, Ont.; Kathleen (Michelle Demers), Lethbridge, Alta.; Nan to Randy, Jackie (Carol), Julie (Jeff) Miller and their children Zachary, Zoe and Madison, Newport; Jeffrey (Michele) Boyd and their children Meghan and Madeline Emma; Andrew (Diana) Boyd and their children Sophia, Isabella and Ava; Jason (Allison) Boyd and their children Abby and Cameron, all of Toronto. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Leola Cochrane, Falmouth; brothers, Harry (Florence), James (Claire), Blair (Nora), Alton (Edna); sisters, Liny McLearn, Edna White, Audrey (Hector) Kitchen and Doris (Arnie) Sanford; sisters-in-law, Violet Reid and Hazel Cochrane. She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tomlinson, Jean Cochrane, and Alma Cochrane; brothers-in-law, Harry Cochrane, Randolph Cochrane, Graham McLearn, and Ted White. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 26. August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued MORTON, Anne Marie – Born on June 5, 1919 in Lloydminster, Alberta. Anne went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at 6 a.m. at the Milton District Hospital. Anne was the daughter of the late Thomas and Olivia Farley and is survived by her daughters Janice Shear of Acton, Kathryn Looby and family in Ottawa, brothers Thomas Farley of Ottawa and Patrick Farley of Hamilton. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Edward Morton of Digby, Nova Scotia. Anne will be greatly missed by all who love her, but coupled with the sorrow of her passing is the joy found in the sure knowledge that she is standing in the presence of her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. A Memorial Service was held at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home, 114 Main Street, Milton on Friday Aug. 24. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Born in North Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Scyllie (Nunn) Cooper. Pearl and her husband, Harry operated a dairy farm and raised their family in Aylesford until their retirement in 1983. †She was an active member of the Aylesford United Church and the U.C.W.; and was also a member of the Dempsey Corner Women’s Institute. Pearl particularly enjoyed the weekly sewing circle at the United Church and was an avid gardener and a lover of Nature. She is survived by her husband, Harry; sons, Geoffrey, Coldbrook; Kevin (Karen), Kingston; Brian (Deanna Kenwell), Aylesford and Matthew (Anna), Kentville; sister, Muriel England, North Kingston and son-in-law, Brian Conrad, Berwick; grandchildren, Jennifer; Jayson; Thomas; Joel and great grandchild, Hanna. Born in Aylesford, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Ellen (Acker) Murphy. She enjoyed cooking and had been employed in the kitchen of the former Colonial Inn, Wolfville and the former White Spot Restaurant and Motel, New Minas. She was an avid seamstress and had a passion for reading and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Juanita Taylor and Beverley (Pierre) Morin, both of Alberta; Heather (Bill) Milligan, Black River, Kings County and Greg (Sandra), Alberta; three sisters, Ruth Dorey, New Brunswick; Helen (Percy) Foster and Peggy (Fred) Weihers, both of Aylesford; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Nancy Lynn, Michael, Jacob, Patrick and Paige; great grandchildren; special friends, Jeanie VanBuskirk, Wolfville; Marvin Hiltz, Greenwich; several nieces and nephews. August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued BOUDREAU, Bruno Ralph – 85, Comeau’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 12, 1922 in Little River Harbour, he was a son of the late Bruno and Charlotte (Gaudet) Boudreau. He was a retired fisherman, having also successfully tried his hand at carpentry, masonry and mechanics. Bruno was a very proud veteran of the second World War, having served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. He was wounded on route to South Africa, when the vessel he was sailing on, The Santalina, was torpedoed. He subsequently served in Italy. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155, Wedgeport, and he had a great fondness and respect for Remembrance Day. Bruno also enjoyed gardening and camping. Surviving are his children, Percy (Holly) Boudreau, Prince George, BC; Barbara Boudreau, Ottawa, Ont.; Robert (Sheila) Boudreau, Little River Harbour; Arthur (Bernadine) Boudreau, Victoria, BC; David Boudreau (Diane Goodwin), Little River Harbour; Betty Boudreau (Wayne Burke), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Natalie, Vanessa, Melanie, Jasmin, Jason, Sara, Krista, Amber, Garnet, Calla, Cleveland, Melanie, Cortland, Ruthann and Abigail; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Gerald (Marie) Boudreau, Little River Harbour; a sister, Marion LeBlanc, Yarmouth, and finally, his dog, Hunter. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Ruth F. (Williamson) Boudreau; brothers, Percy, Dennis, Thomas and Vernon; a sister, Vange Deveau. Visitation took place from 7-9 Monday, with a Royal Canadian Legion service at 7:30 PM, followed by prayers at 8 PM, all in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 28 from Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Comeau’s Hill, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc, officiated, assisted by Father Wieslaw Papuga. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Born in South Ohio, Yarmouth Co., she was the daughter of the late Asa and Ninetta (Johnson) Crosby. She was a member of South Ohio United Baptist Church, a Dominion Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society and also a former member of High Hopes Seniors, Port Maitland. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and traveling. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Anthony LeBlanc), Abram's River; sons, Alton (Peggy), Peterborough, Ont.; Douglas (Rose), South Ohio; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W.; sisters, Emma Beers, her twin Marjorie Eldridge, Grace Porter, Mabel Lent and Carrie Fannin. Born April 22, 1917 in Carleton, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Goldie (Nichols) Hines. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester; brother, Vernon; sisters, Lorena and Anita. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Ellen (Mac) MacDougall, Caledonia, Ont.; sons, Bruce (Bev), Hantsport; Albert (Judith), Sand Beach; grandchildren, Christopher, Kristen (Tracie), Jaclyn (Ian), William, Jane (Glen), Jody, Katie, Brenda (Gary); great-grandchildren, Kassidy, Gervontay and Alyssa. She was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. August 19, 2007 to August 25, 2007, continued Gerald Fredrick "Gerry", age 72, of Garlands Crossing, Hants County, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2007, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 23, 1934, in Wentworth, Hants County, he was the son of the late Guy and Grace (Hartt) Hawboldt. A welder by trade, he retired at age 63, from Fundy Gypsum Company,where he worked for over 35 years. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Quarry Workers Union, Local 294. In his younger years, he was an avid fastball player and later enjoyed darts, camping and especially hunting at the camp in Walton. He especially loved and enjoyed all his grandchildren.
