MacLeod, Ruby “June”—72, of Liverpool, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007, in the Queens General Hospital. Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Nellie (Turner) Feoner. She attended school in Liverpool and worked there as a telephone operator for many years before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force, where she served in Quebec for approximately three years. She then lived in Toronto, St. John, N.B., and Port Hawksbury, where June went back to work as a telephone operator. After her first husband Michael passed away she and her son Glen moved back to Liverpool where she worked at Queens General Hospital up until her retirement. She was the treasurer for Queens County Historical Society and the Queens County branch of the V.O.N. June enjoyed traveling, bridge, music and sewing. She is survived by husband Walter; son Glen (Carolyn) Lundrigan, of Markham, Ontario; grandchildren Michelle, David; sister Sandra (Mervin) Oickle, of Milton; half sister Marguerite (Marcel) Emeneau, of Simpson’s Corner. She was predeceased by her first husband Michael Lundrigan; sister Betty Briggs, Joanne in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of June’s life was held Thursday, August 23, 2007, from Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Father Robert Brush officiated. Burial was in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Liverpool. HALLIDAY, Ruth Natalie – 73 of Digby, died Aug. 18 at home. Funeral was held in Digby Baptist Church. Burial in Hillsburn Cemetery, Hillsburn, Annapolis County.

MELANSON, Bowman Clyde – 37, Weymouth Digby County, died Aug. 18. Funeral was held in Emmanuel Baptist Church, Comeauville. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, Havelock.

CHAPMAN, Laurent “Larry” - 60, Yarmouth, died August 19, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Cornwall, Ont., he was a son of the late Robert and Rita (Vellemaire) Chapman. Larry was a member of Zion United Baptist Church, Yarmouth. He worked for Towers department store and then for Zeller's in New Minas. Larry has gone home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Jean; sisters, Elizabeth (Brian) Kyer and Evelyn (Dwayne) Iwachniuk, both of Cornwall, Ont. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. August 21 in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 22 at 2 p.m. in Zion United Baptist Church, Rev. Brian Wallace officiated, with interment in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. REECE, John Graham - 59, West Paradise, Annapolis Co., passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007, at home. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Chester and Roselia (Daniels) Reece. John worked at United Elastic Limited and then with the Nova Scotia Power Commission for 26 years. He enjoyed hunting and working in the woods and was a real outdoorsman. He operated his own sawmill and made many pieces of furniture. He loved working in his vegetable garden, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, the former Judy Eisner; daughters, Kim (Jeff) Daniels of Bridgetown; Shelley (Jason) Taylor of Hillsburn; grandchildren, Alysha Ashley Daniels, Jacob John Roger Taylor; brothers, Brad (Nadine) Daniels of Mississauga, Ont.; Brian Reece of Bridgewater; sisters, Reta (Paul) Blades of Wellington; Eva Reece of Digby; and his special friend, his dog Midnight. Visitation was held Friday, August 24, and funeral service was held Saturday, August 25, 2007 both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, Rev. Mark Reece officiated. Emma Carpenter MacKenzie – 87, formerly of Wolfville, passed away Monday, August 20, 2007 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lydia (Luther) Carpenter. Emma was predeceased by her loving husband, Milton. She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed sharing many interesting stories of the past. Emma is survived by two sons, Ken (Millie), Kentville and Lee (Carol), Grand Bay, New Brunswick; six grandchildren, Christopher and Jay MacKenzie, Jamie (Jason) London, Rick (Natalie) MacKenzie, Shelley (Kirk) Malott and Kim (Kevin) Anthony; six great grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth and MacKenzie London, Matthew and Alicia Malott, Trinity and Brynna MacKenzie; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Steeves and Gladys Henderson; two brothers, Clarence and Cyril. As per Emma’s request, there was no visitation and a brief family graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. MACUMBER, Lila May - 90, Annapolis Royal, formerly of Falmouth, passed away peacefully in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home on August 20, 2007. Lila was born in Falmouth and was the fourth of seven children of the late James and Gertrude “Gertie” (Long) Baker. Lila will be sadly missed and fondly remembered as a loving wife and mother, a caring neighbour, a gifted craftsperson, and a faithful servant. She is survived by children, Howie (Brenda), Donna (Alain) Dawson, both of Ottawa, Ont.; Stephen (Christene), Calgary, Alta.; five grandchildren; sister, Hesta MacDonald, Charlottetown, P.E.I. Arrangements were entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family will received visitors 7-9 p.m.Wednesday, August 22, 2207. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 23, in Lohnes Funeral Service Chapel, Rev. Jeffrey White officiated. DeVouge, Frances M. —83, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 20th, 2007, in the Queens General Hospital. Born in Dunfield, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late William Wiseman and Mary Elizabeth Morris, and the stepdaughter of Emma Benmore. Frances immigrated to Canada from Newfoundland in 1940, prior to Newfoundland joining confederation. She moved to Montreal to start a career in nursing and worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital for two years. Following her nursing career she attended a business college and began a new career in banking, beginning as a teller at the Dominion Bank of Canada and rising through to a position as Assistant Manager. She married her husband Herzil DeVouge in 1947. Starting her family she moved with her husband to a farm in Gaspe, Quebec in 1949. In 1966 she and her family moved once more to St. Catherines, ON, where she worked part time for a local bank. After her retirement, she moved to Port Mouton in 1984. Frances was a former active volunteer for the C.N.I.B. and other charities. She is survived by her daughter Donna De Vouge (Dean Usher), of Toronto, ON; son Bryan of Sudbury, ON; grandchildren Zachary, Joshua and Jesse; step granddaughter Kelly. She was predeceased by her husband Herzil; sister Gladys. Special thanks to a very special person and friend, Pat Wigglesworth and to the dedicated nursing staff at the Queens General Hospital. Funeral Service was held Friday, August 24, 2007 from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Port Mouton. AMERO, Allen Jerome – 52, Plympton, died Aug. 20 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Funeral was held in Plympton Baptist Church. Interment in Methodist Cemetery, Bloomfield.

DOBSON, Agnes Kathleen – 74 of Digby, died Aug. 21 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. A private service will be held at a later date.
