Over 45 artists will perform at Contact East 2007, taking place for the first time on the South Shore in Liverpool from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.
Stephen Antle, with Contact East discussed the upcoming event Aug. 21 at an Astor Theatre Media Conference.

“For 102 years performers have taken the stage here,” he stated.

Contact East Co-chair and Astor Theatre Manager, Chris Ball, described the four days of musical entertainment as “a tradeshow for the arts.”

Contact East will include more than 700 attendees, 300 delegates and over 45 performers in four days, he said.

“Liverpool will be alive with music, dance and theatrical performances,” said Ball. “The proceedings are not just a cultural investment in the region but an economic one on the South Shore.”

Contact East has been in business for 32 years.

It is a bi-annual event, which takes place in different Atlantic Provinces every two years.

The weekend will include 10 showcases plus six award categories.

Provincial Director of Canadian Heritage, David Burton said Contact East 2007 would give residents a chance to see some world class acts.

Performances will take place at the Astor Theatre, Marlin’s and the Zion United Church.

Numerous workshops will be held throughout the weekend as well.
