Pot plants, parties, dominate police patrols

This week police investigations have resulted in the seizure of a number of marijuana plants in Annapolis County.
Three marijuana plants were taken from a Middleton apartment on August 23. Police later seized about 50 plants and growing equipment at a South Williamston residence on August 25. One 45 year-old female, and one 48 year-old male were arrested at the scene and later released. The woman is facing charges under the Controlled Substances Act. She is scheduled to appear in court at Annapolis Royal on October 1.
There were 98 calls for assistance during the week of August 20 through August 27, among these were: six false alarms; five false 911s; five traffic accidents, and two domestic matters. Following are highlights of these calls:
-- August 20 at 8:08 p.m. A Lequille resident reported a complaint of property damage after discovering a damaged vehicle.
-- August 20 at 10:40 p.m. A Deep Brook resident reported that a break and enter was in progress at a neighbouring property. A patrol was made and discovered that the three suspects were the owners of the property who were locked out.
-- August 21 at 1:29 p.m. Police received a report of a theft in Cornwallis after a purse was stolen from a parked car.
-- August 21 at 2:10 p.m. Police received a report of theft in Bridgetown after gas was stolen.
-- August 21 at 3:09 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Spa Springs. A driver was able to escape the vehicle with minimal injuries after she lost control and the car rolled into the ditch.
-- August 21 at 4:20 p.m. Police received a report of theft in Springfield. Personal effects were taken.
-- August 21 7:47 p.m. Police received a complaint of an erratic driver in Lawrencetown.
-- August 21 at 8:28 p.m. Police received several calls relating to a disturbance in Middleton. A group was drinking, arguing loudly, and fighting. Threats related to firearms were uttered. One individual was located and arrested for public intoxication and later released on liquor charges.
-- August 21 at 8:48 p.m. Police received a report of the driver of a red mustang driving dangerously on Purdy Rd.
-- August 22 at 7:47 a.m. Police received a report of a break and enter in Lawrencetown. Tools, gas, and equipment were stolen from a public building.
-- August 22 at 5:10 p.m. Police received a report of theft from Lequille.
-- August 22 at 5:38 p.m. Police were called to Middleton on a complaint of a disturbance.
-- August 23 at 10:45 a.m. Police were called to a traffic collision in Nictaux. A car with minor damage, was found abandoned in a ditch.
-- August 23 at 11:04 a.m. Police received areport of a theft in Lequille. A table and chairs were stolen from a verandah.
-- August 23 at 11:50 a.m. Police received a report of a theft from a roadside stand in Hampton. Money and commodities were stolen.
-- August 23 at 2:28 p.m. Police were called to Wilmot after a car struck a deer. The driver wasn’t injured.
-- August 23 at 3:42 p.m. Police received a report of a driver transporting an unsafe load in Nictaux. A patrol was made, the driver was located and the load was not deemed to be unsafe.
-- August 23 at 3:48 p.m. Police were called to a traffic collision in Nictaux. Charges are pending after two vehicles were extensively damaged at the intersection. Both drivers were injured, one was transported to hospital.
-- August 23 at 3:53 p.m. Police received a report of a moose on the highway near Brickton.
-- August 23 at 3:53 p.m. Police received a report of cattle on the road near Middleton.
-- August 23 at 3:56 p.m. Police received a complaint of an assault in Middleton.
-- August 23 at 4:37 p.m. A Clementsport resident turned in a sum of money that was found.
-- August 23 at 8:52 p.m. Police received a report of a suspicious person in Middleton. The person was in a vehicle that was parked at an empty residence.
-- August 23 at 11:05 p.m. Police were called to a complaint of a loud party in Lawrencetown. One subject was arrested and remanded to appear in court on various warrants.
-- August 24 at 7:04 a.m. Police received a report of speeding in Middleton.
-- August 24 at 1 p.m. Police received a report of joyriding in Bridgetown.
-- August 24 at 1:22 p.m. Police received a report of theft in Arlington. Household items were taken.
-- August 24 at 5:30 p.m. Police received a report of an erratic driver on Highway 8 near Maitland Bridge.
-- August 24 at 6:04 p.m. Police were called to a home in the southern end of the county after receiving a report of a stolen car. The car was found abandoned nearby in a ditch and the report of the theft was deemed to be unfounded.
-- August 24 at 8:19 p.m. Police received a report of property damage near Kejimkujik, after a vehicle left tire tracks at a residence.
-- August 25 at 6:37 p.m. Police received a complaint of a loud party in Inglisville.
-- August 25 at 7:42 p.m. Police received a complaint of youth on the bridge at Nictaux. A patrol was made but the group had left.
-- August 25 at 11:12 p.m. Police received a complaint of a party in Waldec. Vehicles and pedestrians were blocking the road.
-- August 26 at 2:41 a.m. Police were called to Meadowvale on a call for medical assistance for a youth.
-- August 26 at 5:23 a.m. Police were called to Clementsvale after receiving a report that an injured male was lying on the road. A patrol was made and the man was located; he got up and drove away on a bicycle.
-- August 27 at 10:05 a.m. Police received a report of property damage from Bridgetown. A vehicle had been struck by a bottle during the night.
