Fined for possession
The court has fined James Arthur Wood, 19, Windsor Back Road, for possessing an amphetamine (ecstasy), a substance listed in Schedule III of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and then sentenced him to a day in custody deemed served for assaulting a peace officer engaged in the execution of his duty by kicking him in the face.
Wood entered not guilty pleas to the charges Feb. 20, 2007 and the matters were adjourned to Aug. 17, 2007 for trial at Windsor provincial court.
However, Wood changed his pleas to guilty prior to the scheduled trial. He was sentenced Aug. 17 to one day in custody deemed served for assaulting a peace officer and he was fined a total of $345 for possessing ecstasy. He was ordered Aug. 17 to pay the fine or spend five days in custody on willful default.
Wood committed the offences in Windsor Dec. 15, 2006.
In other court matters
The court has fined Adam Daniel Porter, 29, Windsor, for driving a motor vehicle while his license was revoked.
Porter entered a guilty plea to the charge Aug. 21, 2007 and was fined a total of $805. He has been given until Aug. 26, 2008 to pay with no default.
Porter committed the offence on Gerrish Street, Windsor July 5, 2007.
