Canadian Idol finalist Dwight d'Eon made a trip home to Yarmouth County on Saturday, Aug. 25 and thousands turned out on the grounds of the Mariners Centre to welcome him.
Some of the highlights of the visit included a performance by d'Eon and his band Never, an autograph session with the singer for his fans and the warden of the Municipality of Argyle announcing that a new road will be named in Pubnico: Dwight's Way.
While the event was largely in part dictated by CTV, a large group of local volunteers also played a key role in the success of the event.
D'Eon, who is in the Top 4 of the CTV competition, said he was overwhelmed from the support at home.
The event also saw $4,106 raised, in d'Eon's honour, for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, through the sale of memorabilia and donations. This broke down to:
*4x6, 5x7, 8x10 postcard keepsakes: $1,005 Sunrise printing donated prints
*crowd donations $789
*Argyle Municipality donation $500
*Reproduction 'Pick' Dwight guitar pick necklaces $381
*R&D Graphics $800
*Dwight signed picture $631 donation by Bijoux Pierrette d'Entremont (Photograph by Virginia d'Eon) – winner Denis Lenteign
