The Top 5 on Canadian Idol find out tonight who will be around next week for the Top 4.

Tonight’s results show airs at a special time. According to the Canadian Idol website, the show airs at 7:30 p.m. (Usually the results show only airs at 10:30 p.m.)

Last night the competitors, including West Pubnico’s Dwight d’Eon, got to sings songs of their “own” Idols.

D’Eon sang Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi, saying the first time he heard the song he thought to himself he’d like to be able to write and sing songs that has that much depth.

“And Bon Jovi is one of those bands that for me was very inspirational in my formative years when I was starting out as a guitar player and a singer and a songwriter,” d’Eon said during an interview on the show.

But it was seeing d’Eon playing a grand piano on the stage that surprised many, since it was a departure from seeing him with a guitar and showed another dimension to his musical abilities.

“Dwight absolutely, without question, my favourite performance you’ve ever done,” said judge Farley Flex. “You just made you bed, enjoy lying in it. Really good.”

Sass Jordan, who most of the time has been under whelmed by d’Eon’s vocals, also thought he had done well.

“That was far and away the best thing you’ve ever done on this show. It was even in tune,” she said, to which d’Eon commented, “Coming from you that means a lot.”

Judge Jake Gold cautioned d’Eon to watch his microphone technique when at the piano, but said overall he thought the performance was really strong.

Judge Zack Werner, on the other hand, said while he didn’t disagree that in some ways it was d’Eon’s best performance, for Werner it’s about as good as it gets.

“I think that was about as good as you can sing at this point,” he said. “It’s good enough to sing a lot of records, I don’t think you sing well enough to win this competition.”

While preparing for their Top 5 performances, the Idol finalists got to work with American Idol winner, and Grammy winner, Kelly Clarkson, who performs live on Tuesday’s results show. While working with d’Eon she told him his voice is very dramatic, in a good way. She also said a big asset to d’Eon is the experience in his voice.

“You’d think he wrote the songs that he is singing…that’s a hard thing to do,” she said.

“For her to say I’m very mature in my performance means a lot, she’s already light years ahead of where I may be in years to come,” said d’Eon, who then broke into laughter adding, “And the fact she said you were way better than I thought you were going be was a huge compliment…At least I’m finally getting a little bit of props around here.”

As for the other performances in Monday’s Top 5, the greatest accolades from the judges went to Brian Melo of Hamilton, Ontario who closed out the show with his delivery of Radiohead’s Karma Police. The performance got a standing ovation from some of the judge’s with Gold saying, “I just hope the people at home understand what they just saw. One of most magic moments on this show.”

Meanwhile, Dwight d’Eon supporters are invited to the Mariners Centre on Saturday at 11 a.m., when d’Eon makes a visit back home. (Initially the information was that The event is slated to go ahead whether or not d’Eon advances to Top 4.

Firstly: I don't plan on making any friends from this article. This piece is a look at the "Star Making Machinery" of The"IDOL" and its cult status.

Fourteen points to consider.

POINT 1
Where were you when the local band "Never" released their first Album? Did you go out and buy it knowing that Dwight D. was a songwriting member of the group?
Chances are: You did not. What about the subsequent album releases under the "Never" moniker, or the "Incrowd" on which Dwight was a prolific
and significant writer? Maybe a few of you. If Dwight d'eon had not submitted himself as a "Canadian Idol Candidate",would you have made an effort BUY OR PROMOTE ANY of his music? or participate in the promotion of same? [Judging from my experience, ] A vast majority of you,WOULD NOT

POINT 2
Are you a member of a cult? No, Yes. [if you answered no you are mistaken. ]

POINT 3
Do a google; on the definition of "CULT"] compare it to the tenets and proliferation of the "Idol Programmes."

POINT 4
After having done the above search, do you now consider yourselves a "cult member?"
[If yes, you should seriously consider deprogramming] [BOYCOTT IDOL] or other and all related so called 'REALITY' T.V.

POINT 5
Do you rely / depend upon ANY or ALL of the "IDOL" PROGRAMS or deriviatives; to define what will be "the next big thing?"
How important are they to your lifestyle?

POINT 6
Are you familiar with the Term "Be careful what you wish for?"

POINT 7
Are you familiar with the Term "Be careful what you wish for [or upon] others?"

POINT 8
Are you a sycophant? You more than likely are, as an adherent to the 'Idol' Creedo.or [rapture]

POINT 9
What's more important to you. Looks, or actual talent, and/or longevity? [sustainabilty?]

POINT 10
WHO OR WHAT IS THE "FOX" NETWORK OR ITS CANADIAN COUNTERPART "CTV."
[are you aware that The Fox{FAUX} Network is the official television propaganda arm of the fascist Bush Regime?]
[ Do a google for fascist.}

[After all they ARE responsible for lulling you futher into a dreamland of stupidity and mindless consumption of bogus concepts!]

POINT 11
Who ACTUALLY makes any money, or Long Term Gains from "THE CULT OF "IDOL?" and how much? [google Simon Cowell or the rest of those washed-up has beens that make up the panel of CELEBRITY JUDGES ]

POINT 12 Are you familiar with any of the pitfalls of the current "CULT OF CELEBRITY" i.e Brittany Spears, or Paris Hilton [the news is everywhere] How do they affect your life as a wage slave?

POINT 13
Do you know the meaning of the term or concept of "DUMBING DOWN?" [if not you are alreadfy dumb]

POINT 14..
How do you BEST support Dwight d'EON and his musical efforts, career, and longevity?

BUY AND PROMOTE HIS EXISTING AND FUTURE PROJECTS.
Do not wait until he is rendered and sanitised for MASS CONSUMPTION. Because in three months he will have been all but forgotten.
Replaced by the next "BIG THING."{ which you..will have voted for.}
