Drove without license, insurance
The court has fined Thane Allen Zacharie Anthony, 24, Hebbville, for unlawfully driving a motor vehicle while his privilege of obtaining a license was revoked, and for driving a motor vehicle without a valid liability policy in place in regard to either the vehicle or the driver.
He entered guilty pleas to the charges Aug. 14, 2007 and was fined a total of $575 for driving a motor vehicle while his privilege of obtaining a license was revoked. He was fined a total of $1,150 for driving a motor vehicle without a valid liability policy. He has been given until Aug. 26, 2008 to pay.
The offences were committed in Kentville Sept. 20, 2006.
Suspended sentence, probation for assault
The court has handed a suspended sentence with a period of probation to David Edwin Giles, 50, Windsor, for committing an assault on an individual.
Giles had entered a not guilty plea to the charge March 27, 2007 and the matter was adjourned to June 22, 2007 for trial. Giles was found guilty at the trial June 22 and the matter was adjourned to Aug. 14, 2007 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. The court gave Giles a suspended sentence with one year of probation Aug. 14.
The offence was committed in Curry’s Corner March 18, 2007.
