Flower and Vegetable Show

August 18 The 25th Annual "Open" Flower and Vegetable Show at the Kentville Fire Hall; hosted by the Valley Gardeners Club. Anyone can enter, with novice and children's entries being encouraged. Please contact Della Harris early at 678-5227 for details. Public viewing is between 1-4 p.m. Refreshments, door prize, gardener's White Elephant table, etc. Free admission.



Bear River Story

August 18-19 The Bear River Story, a play written and directed by Hal Theriault, grand opening is Saturday, Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Reception to follow. Second performance is Sunday, August 19 7:30 p.m. $8 adults $5 seniors/children 12 and under. At Oakdene Centre, Bear River. For information call 245-5629.



Pot luck supper

August 19 Everyone is welcome to a Pot Luck Supper at the Hampton Hall starting at 5 p.m. Free will offering. Please bring your own dish with you.

Memorial service

August 19 Happy Memories Memorial Service, August 19, 2 p.m. at Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. Speaker is Rev. Michael Mugford. Music by Kingston United Church Choir.

Gymnastics Summer Camp

Christian Drama Camp

August 20-24 Christian Drama Camp, Bridgetown Baptist Church with Youth Pastor Chris Keezer Monday, Aug. 20 – Friday, Aug. 24. For Youth Ages 6-15. From 9-12 noon daily. Bottle Drive

August 25 Bridgetown Sea Kings Annual Bottle Drive will be held Saturday, Aug. 25. Roadside pick-up starting at 9:30 a.m. Or, starting now, drop your bottles at Clark Family Automotive. Your support is appreciated.

Green Day Event

Cribbage Tournament

August 25 A Cribbage tournament will be held at the Middleton Legion Branch 1 on August 25. Registration is at noon and play starts at 1 p.m. All entrance money returned in prizes. Canteen available. Members and guests welcome. Must be 19 years of age. Call 825-4751 for more information.

Hymn Sing

August 26 A Hymn Sing will be held at Inglisville Baptist Church on August 26 at 7 p.m. Featuring Old Country. Everyone welcome.

Museum anniversary

August 26 Macdonald Museum in Middleton will be celebrating its 25th anniversary August 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. Includes children’s activities, entertainment, food, and special exhibits. $6 per person (inclusive). Family rates available. Call 825-6116.

Club 55 Bowling

Community Corn Boil

September 9 Emmanuel Congregational Church, 37 Gates Ave, Middleton, invites you to our annual Community Corn Boil to be held in the church parking lot on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 4. to 6:30 p.m. Music will be provided by various individuals and groups. Admission is free. Come and get Fall started right by meeting with your neighbours while enjoying some tasty corn and good music.

Active Living Fair

September 15 Middleton’s 3rd Annual Active Living Fair will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Middleton Arena. This is an opportunity for area community groups to promote their programs and services, do demonstrations and take program registrations. Registration fee $10 and the deadline for registering is August 29. Contact Middleton Recreation Office at 825-6611 to register.

GiganticYard Sale

September 15 Middleton’s Gigantic Yard Sale, held in conjunction with the Active Living Fair on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Middleton Arena. An opportunity for individuals and/or groups to sell, buy, trade household items, sporting goods, etc. Table rental fee is $10 and registration deadline is September 7. Contact Middleton Recreation at 825-6611 to register.

Rug Hooking Exhibit

September 16-21 Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia, will be having a rug exhibit at Cornwallis base, Sept 16-21. Admission is free and all are welcome. Hours Monday 1-5, 6-8; Tuesday 9-12,1-5,6-8; Wednesday 9-12, 1-5; Thurday 9-12, 1-5, 6-8.
