CHAPMAN, Nancy Jane - 58, Yarmouth. It is with great joy that we celebrate the life of our sister, daughter, aunt and friend, Nancy Jane, who passed away peacefully on July 27, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Health Centre. Nancy was born in Amherst, with Sturge-Weber Syndrome in 1948 and due to the extent of her illness, was expected to have a short stay with us. But we were blessed and Nancy not only survived, but thrived. Her sense of humour and love of fun were enjoyed and endured by all who knew her. Nancy loved to knit and many family members were the lucky recipients of knitted slippers and scarfs. The holidays will never be the same. The Easter Bunny always found her and she loved parades and dressing for Halloween. Nancy knew Santa personally and would only give her letter right to him each year. She could be seen boogying in her chair, snapping her fingers and singing along whenever she heard music. Nancy lived at Tidal View Manor for the last nine years and was loved and appreciated by the wonderful staff, even when she turned her loaded water guns on them. They often included her in their “Timmy's Run” and made her feel like one of the staff. Nancy recently received an award for lawn bowling and showed it with pride. Nancy is survived by her father, Norman (Chip) Chapman, Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island, B.C.; brother, Larry Chapman, Dartmouth; sisters, Linda (Eric) Moore, Amherst; Liese (Malcolm) Coulter, Canberra, Australia; and Natalie (Kevin) Landry, Yarmouth; as well as nieces and nephews, Stacey, Christopher, Angela, Luke, Raven and Carter. Nancy was predeceased by her mother, Rhoda Grace (Stiles) Chapman, who passed away December 22, 1997. Visitation was 7-9 p.m.Tuesday, July 31 in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. Funeral service was held in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, on August 1 at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of remembrance at 15 King St., Yarmouth. Burial was held in Chebogue Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to Tidal View Manor. To all who knew Nancy, her smile and sense of humour will remain a treasured memory.
