Police investigate rash of break and enters

Annapolis RCMP dealt with numerous matters over the week of July 30 to August 6, including a rash of break and enters in several parts of the county, a large number of traffic matters, and a handful of noise complaints.
In total, RCMP answered 123 calls, which included eight false 911 calls, five false alarms, 39 traffic matters, 10 noise complaints, and seven domestic matters.
Following are highlights:
-- July 30, 1:21 p.m. Spa Springs. Police received a report of three suspicious males in the area. A patrol was made but the trio had left the area.
-- July 30, 2:18 p.m. Middleton. An alert citizen contacted police after discovering a female slumped in the driver's seat of a vehicle. Police attended and the elderly driver was found to be okay. She was just having a rest.
-- July 30, 2:55 p.m. Highway 101 Bridgetown. Police received a report of an erratic driver. The vehicle was intercepted and police found the driver had been distracted by an iPod. The driver was cautioned about such distractions.
-- July 30, 6:36 p.m. Highway 101 Middleton. Police received a report of an erratic driver which resulted in the driver being charged for unsafe passing.
-- JUly 30, 7:40 p.m. Highway 101 Paradise. Police received a report of a dangerous driver. Police made a patrol but were unable to locate the offender.
-- July 30, 7:41 p.m. Upper Clements Park. Police were called concerning keys locked in the trunk of a vehicle. A family in distress, long after the park had closed, could not access the vehicle to return home. Police called a local area tow truck company for assistance but they were unable to open the trunk.Police called upon the assistance of RCMP members in Kingston to locate and make contact with a parent who later drove to Upper Clements with a spare set of keys.
-- July 31, 7:15 a.m. Highway 101 Lawrencetown. Police received a report of an erratic speeding vehicle. A patrol was made but the vehicle was not located.
-- July 31, 10:59 a.m. Middleton. Information regarding a possible breach of house arrest resulted in the arrest of one adult male. He was released and a court hearing was scheduled for later this month.
-- July 31, 2:53 p.m. Lawrencetown. COGS staff alerted police after finding a ladder leaning up against the building. Luckily no damage or thefts were committed.
-- July 31, 3:55 p.m. Keji. Police received a report of a vehicle driving around the campground with passengers in the truck box. Police were unable to identify the offenders.
-- July 31, 6:31 p.m. Springfield. An upset citizen contacted police after discovering a newly purchased BMX bicycle was stolen.
-- July 31, 10:48 p.m. Middleton. A citizen contacted police with concerns about a male on his front lawn yelling at passersby. Police attended and the noisy individual was asked to return to his residence.
-- August 1, 1:48 a.m. Meadowvale. Police received a report of a possible impaired driver who had driven into an area trailer park. Annapolis RCMP had to call upon Kingston RCMP to check on the matter as they were busy elsewhere in the county. Kingston RCMP attended and located the suspect vehicle but not the driver.
-- August 1, 9:05 p.m. Upper Granville. Police received a report of sheep running at large on Highway 1. Police attended but it appeared that the sheep had been herded back to their fold.
-- August 1, 11:26 p.m. Bridgetown. Police received a report of a disturbance at the local pub. Police attended and the matter was resolved.
-- August 2, 7:58 a.m. Cornwallis. Police received a report of a break and enter into a building on the old navy base. A door was kicked in. Minor damage was reported and nothing was stolen.
-- August 2, 1:45 p.m. Highway 10, New Albany. Police received a report of two motorcycles speeding down the highway passing vehicles. Police made a patrol but were unable to locate the offenders.
-- August 2, 3:33 p.m. West Dalhousie. Police received a report of a theft of eight-foot logs. The amount of wood would fill three tractor-trailer units. The investigation continues.
-- August 2, 3:57 p.m. Bridgetown. A citizen contacted police seeking assistance in dealing with an unwanted rodent. Police suggested the homeowner contact pest control for further guidance in dealing with the squirrel.
-- August 2, 10:43 p.m. Keji. Park security contacted police seeking assistance in dealing with an intoxicated camper. Police attended. The individual was passed out and was no longer a problem. The next morning he was evicted from the park.
-- August 3, 2:51 a.m. Highway 101 West of Bridgetown. Police, EHS, and members of the Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident in which a deer was struck. The vehicle was badly damaged with smoke or steam coming from it. The female passenger was taken to Annapolis Community Health Centre for minor injuries and was later released.
-- August 3, 9:19 a.m. Lawrencetown. A citizen alerted police after finding two of his outbuildings had been broken into. Locks were broken off but it appeared nothing was stolen.
-- August 3, 10:14 a.m. Springfield. Police received a report of a breakin to a garage. Stolen was a large quantity of fishing gear. The investigation continues.
-- August 3, 10:38 a.m. Springfield. Police received a report of a break and enter into a storage building. Minor damage was reported but nothing was taken.
-- August 3, 10:31 a.m. Keji. Police were called to the park to assist park wardens with the eviction of an unwanted guest.
-- August 3, 10:38 a.m. Springfield. While police were in Springfield investigating reports of break and enters they also received reports of tires slashed on a vehicle.
-- August 3, 9:20 a.m. Lawrencetown. Police received a report of a break and enter into a shed. The lock was broken. It appears nothing was taken.
-- August 3, 7:22 p.m. Highway 10 Springfield. Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bear. The bear died due to injuries but luckily nobody in the vehicle was hurt.
-- August 3, 9:39 p.m. Granville Ferry. Police received a report of a disturbance which resulted in the arrest of an intoxicated female. She was transported to cells in Digby and later released.
-- August 3, 9:50 p.m. Springfield. Police were called to a campground at Lake Pleasant after receiving a report of a youth in the area with possible weapons. Police attended and the matter was resolved without incident.
-- August 4, 2:34 p.m. Hampton. Police received a report of an unwanted person at a residence. A man was arrested. He faces charges and is scheduled to appear in court in September.
-- August 4, 2:59 p.m. Springfield. Police received a report of a break and enter into a cottage. Missing is a boat, powersaw, and nine horsepower motor.
-- August, 5, 12:56 a.m. Highway 101 Annapolis Royal Exit. Police response to a single vehicle accident determined that the driver was impaired. Possible impaired driving charges are pending.
-- August 5, 3:18 a.m. Upper Clements. Police response to a report of a break and enter resulted in the arrest of a male. A number of Criminal Code charges are pending. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court in October.
-- August 5, 3:30 a.m. Torbrook. Police responded to a report of an assault. Police arrested one male. He was later released pending a court appearance.
-- August 5, 3:42 a.m. Torbrook Mines. A complaint about an out-of-control male resulted in the arrest of the individual for assault. The subject was taken to Kingston cells and later released pending a court appearance.
-- August 5, 1:39 p.m. Keji. Police received a report of a truck driving around with people in the box. Police made a patrol but the vehicle was not located.
-- August 5, 2:30 p.m. Nictaux. A report of an erratic driver resulted in the arrest of the driver for impaired. The driver failed a breath test and charges are pending.
-- August 5, 5:16 p.m. Highway1 Upper Clements. Police received a report of a single vehicle accident. The vehicle flipped over in the ditch. Police and EHS attended. The driver was taken to Annapolis Community Health Centre for treatment of minor injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.
-- August 5, 8:18 p.m. Mount Rose. Police received a report of a break and enter into a garage and barn. Stolen was a power generator, rideon lawnmower, and a push mower. The investigation continues.
