Bible School

July 30-August 3 Vacation Bible School at the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church. Runs from 1 to 3:45 p.m. For ages 5-12. Pre-registration on July 26 in CE Hall from 12:30-2:00 p.m., or call 584-3560.

Jimmy Flynn Show

August 2 The Jimmy Flynn Show will be coming to the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall on August 2. For Tickets call Brian at 532-3144 or Robbie at 526-0860. There will be door prizes and prize draws.

Karaoke finals

August 3 Natal Day celebrations at the Annapolis Royal Legion Community Centre kick off with the Karaoke finals, beginning at 9 pm (registration is at 8). Come out and enjoy some top-notch singing and be a part of the excitement as the winner is announced.

Natal Day breakfast

August 4 The Annapolis Royal Legion’s Natal Day festivities continue with breakfast in the small dining room from 9 am to noon. Then beginning at noon the kids are invited to a puppet and magic show. Admission to the show is $2 and includes a free hot dog and pop.

Lois Club

August 4 The Nova Scotia Lois Club is having a noon luncheon at the Old Orchard Inn,Greenwich Saturday, Aug. 4. For new ‘Lois’s’please phone 665-2708.

Fun Run

August 4 Annapolis County Recreation Services is now taking pre-registration for the 28th Annual Fun Run. The Run will take place Saturday, Aug. 4, 752 St. George Street in Annapolis Royal. To pre-register visit the website at www.annapoliscounty.ne.ca, click on recreation, call 532-2334, or drop by our offices at 752 St. George Street, Annapolis Royal.

Lion’s breakfast

August 4 Bridgetown Lion’s Breakfast from 8:30 to 11:30 at the Lion’s Hall on Church St. Free will offering.

Yard & bake sale

August 4 Yard & Bake Sale at the Granville Beach Church Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Parish Yard Sale;

August 4 St Luke's Church Hall, Annapolis Royal The Parish of Annapolis is holding a giant yard sale from 9 am to 1 p.m.. Hot dogs and cold drinks will be available to purchase as well as home made baking.

Natal Day activities

August 5 Natal Day celebrations at the Annapolis Royal Legion Community Centre will be in full swing with a Full Breakfast (including pancakes) from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A horseshoe tournament will begin at 10 a.m. (registration at 9:30), at a cost of $5 per person. A lunchtime barbecue will begin at 1 p.m., with Natal Day Bingo beginning at 2 p.m. (merchandise prizes). Finally, at 8 p.m. a Jam Session will finish off the day.

Buffet Breakfast

August 5 Port George Men's Club Buffet Breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. At the Rec Centre. Enjoy pancakes, hash browns, scrambled eggs, homemade baked beans, bacon, sausage toast, muffins, fruit salad and beverage. Everyone welcome. Wheelchair accessible.



Vacation Bible School

Big party

August 6 On Natal Day Monday the Annapolis Royal Legion Community Centre is the location for a huge Children’s Birthday Party from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while this will be the final day for the Legion 50/50 draw, which will be held in the late afternoon.

Brunch lunch

August 7 Come to the Hampton Hall for a Brunch Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sharon Elliott will do a RCMP presentation followed by a question period. Sandwiches, muffins, cookies, etc will be appreciated.

Art from the Heart meeting

August 9 The Middleton Community and Economic Development Department invites the public to attend a general meeting Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Town Hall. Plans for the sixth Annual Art from the Heart Weekend, October 11 to 14th are getting underway now. Last year it was good to see new artists participate as well as the success of new events that helped bring many people to the Valley. You’re invited to lend your support to the celebration of art and culture in Middleton & Area communities. For more information call 825-5500.

Square dance weekend

Photo contest

August 10-19 Second Annual Photo Contest and Exhibit taking place at the Historic Gardens, Annapolis Royal, August 10 through 19. Entries for both the contest and the exhibit must be received at the Gardens no later than August 8. For entry information call 532-7018 or drop by the Gardens between 8am and 8:30 pm.

Flower show

August 11 The Annapolis Region Community Flower show will be taking place on August 11. Enter your best specimens and/or do an arrangement(s). Pick up a brochure of guidelines at the Historic Gardens.

Battle of Atlantic

August 12 HMCS Acadia will be having a Battle of the Atlantic Memorial Service at the Naval Monument, opposite the main-gate at Cornwallis on Sunday, August 12, at 1.30 p.m. All veterans and the general public are invited to attend.

Arena fundraiser

August 12 1st Annual Pig Roast and Bluegrass Country Music fundraiser, Kingston Arena. Music from 2 to 6 p.m., provided by LeBlanc Family & Friends, Matt Lunn & Ground Speed, Country Grass and Matt Balsor. Enjoy bbq’d pork (by Jim Lamb), all fixings and desert from 3 to 6 p.m Activities and prizes for kids. Free will offering. Free camper parking, no hook-ups.
