RECREATION REPORT

Red Cross Babysitting Course, Liverpool

The Recreation Department has received requests to hold another Red Cross Babysitting Course. If you are interested in taking the course please contact the Recreation Department at 354-5741. The proposed date for the course would be on Aug. 21.

Tennis Camp, Port Medway

On Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 head over to the Multipurpose Court in Port Medway and join the staff of the Liverpool Tennis Club as they "serve" up the fun! Learn how to play the game at a two-day Tennis Camp! Participants will be advised of the time of their camp after registration. (Two sessions per day, one from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., the other 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. This event is for ages 6 years and up. The cost is $10 per person. Please pre-register by July 30. There is a minimum registration of four participants per session required.

Beach Meadows Beach Mussel Bake & Picnic, Beach Meadows

Bring a picnic supper and sample some mussels on Aug. 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Beach Meadows Beach; the mussels are cooked over hot rocks with seaweed. Enter our sand sculpting contest! All ages are welcome. Admission is free!

Seniors Day at Marina Park , Brooklyn

Come out and boogie with Salt Water Cowboys on Aug. 3 from 1-3 p.m. and enjoy music and refreshments for the afternoon. Bring your own lawnchair. Admission is free! Rain date is Aug. 10th.

Glow Bowling for Kids, Liverpool

Let us get your muscles moving on Aug. 6 with some glow bowling! Kids aged 5- 7 years will bowl from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per person for two strings. Pre-register by Aug. 3. Glow Bowling for kids aged 8-11 years will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Diva Day, Caledonia

There's nothing like dressing up, and being a girlie-girl, so come on out on Aug. 8 from 2- 4 p.m. at the Whitman Inn with the Recreation Staff and enjoy the day being a diva. This event is for ages 5-8 years. The cost is $8 per person. Space is limited to 18 participants. Please pre-register by Aug. 6.

Dude Day, Caledonia

Boys and Dirt and Recreation Staff equals one fun afternoon! So come on out for a finger wiggling good time on Aug. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the Caledonia Fire Hall! This event is for ages 5-11 years. The cost is $5 per person and a snack is included. Space is limited to 15 participants. Pre-register by Aug. 13.

Fun Day on the Field, Liverpool

Bring your family and enjoy games, races, bouncy room and refreshments during the Fun Day on the Field Event on Aug. 18, from 1-4 p.m. at Privateer Park. All ages are welcome, free of charge.

Walk Your Way Through Summer

This season the Region of Queens Recreation Department is proud to offer a three-month walking program to promote healthy living and community involvement. We hope that our participants will reach an accumulative goal of 10,000 kilometres, walked from June 1 to Aug. 25. There will be monthly prize draws and a grand prize draw at the end of the program. There is no cost for registration. There will be a scheduled group walk every Thursday for those who wish to participate.
