There were 114 calls for service for members of Windsor District RCMP between July 16 and July 22, 2007.
Of these, there were 20 false alarms and 10 misdialed 911 calls. Again, police ask that alarms systems are inspected and maintained on a regular basis to avoid unnecessary action, and please be careful when using the telephone. As we know, 911 is to be used for emergencies only.
Police also received 15 traffic-related complaints. One of these was a cow that was reported to be on the highway. Fortunately for the cow and drivers, there was no mishap. Along with some check-points conducted, there were four impaired driving complaints investigated with one driver being charged with failing the breathalyzer. Six motor vehicle crashes were investigated, none involving life-threatening injuries.
There were two reports of abandoned vehicles and three reports of theft from vehicles. Please lock your vehicles when leaving them unattended and take all valuables out or place them out of sight.
Currently under investigation are four complaints of theft, one attempted theft, one attempted break and enter into a business and two complaints of damage to property. There were also two reports of found property.
Police also responded to three complaints of disturbing the peace, two assaults, and two uttering threats complaints.
Windsor District RCMP is investigating the following offences. Sometime during the early morning hours of Saturday, June 30, 2007 someone entered the Walton Pub through a locked door and damaged the ATM on the premises.
The ATM was damaged extensively and an undisclosed amount of monies were taken from the machine.
Also, sometime overnight Monday, July 2, 2007, two vehicles were broken into in the Windsor area and a stereo from each was stolen.
