Going to need a railway, and soon
Letter to The Advertiser
To the Editor:
Three cheers for Wendy Elliott's railway piece (“Time to think beyond twinned highways”, The Advertiser, July 24, 2007) in the last Advertiser!
I once heard a wise man ask,"What is your house in the suburbs worth? What is it worth when gas goes to five dollars a litre?"
We’re going to need that railway, perhaps sooner than people think. We’re going to need every square foot of farmland too, but that’s another fight.
