July 8, 2007 to July 14, 2007, continued GOREHAM, Justin - 18, Yarmouth, died July 14, 2007, near Gypsum Mines, Hants Co. Born on May 19, 1989, in Yarmouth, he was a son of Tracey (stepfather Jeffrey) Durkee and Paul Robinson. Justin was a lobster fisherman. He enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and being with his friends. Justin is survived by his mother, Tracey and Jeffrey Durkee, Yarmouth County; father, Paul Robinson; sister, Sarah Robinson, Yarmouth; girlfriend, Tanya Hebb, Yarmouth; grandparents, Gerald and Ellen Robinson, Deerfield, Yarmouth Co.; Robert and June Durkee, Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co.; Fern Goreham, Rockville, Yarmouth Co.; great-grandmother, Norma Goreham, Woods Harbour. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Bruce Goreham (Woods Harbour); great-grandfather, Angus Goreham (Woods Harbour); uncle, James Robinson (Yarmouth); great-grandmother, Vitty Outhouse (Yarmouth); great-grandmother, Hazel Robinson (Kentville), and great-grandparents, Doris and Frank Purdy (Yarmouth). Visitation was held Wednesday July 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Thursday, July 19, at 2 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel with Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiating. Burial took place in Sandford Cemetery. Donations in memory of Justin may be made to Tidal View Manor. July 8, 2007 to July 14, 2007, continued Gordon Ainsley Salzman – On July 14, 2007, Mr. Gordon Ainsley Salzman of St. Paul, Alberta passed away at the age 85 years. Gordon served in World War II in Europe with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was a member in long standing with the Legion in Kingston, Nova Scotia & the St. Paul Legion #100. Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Madeline of 60 years; 1 son, Shilo (Marjorie) of St. Paul, AB; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bond, Joshua (fiancee, Jennifer) & Adam; 1 sister, Marjorie Hurley of Middleton, NS; sisters-in-law, Vera Salzman of Northfield, NS & June Salzman of Waterville, NS; numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Hibbert & Julia Salzman; 5 brothers, Joseph, Bud, Stanley, Lormier & Frank. A Memorial Service will be held at a later time. July 8, 2007 to July 14, 2007, continued HOLDEN, Harold Nicholl, 82, of Jordan Falls, Shelburne County, passed away in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point, Shelburne Co., on Saturday, July 14,2007. Born at Jordan Branch, he was a son of the late Simon and Blanche (Pierce) Holden. Harold started his working career at a fish plant in Lockeport, moving on in 1946 to work with War Assets decommissioning War Ships. In 1948 he started at Ven-Rez where he spent his next 40 years. During these years he was a member of the IOOF Lodge in Jordan Falls. Harold devoted his life to his family and after retirement could most often be found enjoying his gardens and friends in Little Harbour. He is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Louise Demolitor; sons, Wayne (Carolyn), Jordan Falls; Brian (JoAnn) Mill Village; Kevin (Paula) Jordan Falls; daughter, Judy William; sisters, Hazel Ritchie, Halifax and Jean Clarke, Greenwood; grandchildren, Carlene (John Clarey) and Sarah Holden; great grandchild, Falan Clarey; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Earle and Frank; sister, Marion. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 17 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating. Interment of ashes in Lake John cemetery. July 8, 2007 to July 14, 2007, continued Pemberton, Barbara Kathleen, age, 80, of Windsor, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 in Haliburton Place, Windsor, after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. She loved her home & family and was a hard worker all her life until she became ill. Born in Three Mile Plains, she was a daughter of the late Edgar & Bernice Dykens. Surviving are her husband George of 63 years; daughters, Dorothy (Harlen) Schofield, Windsor; Kathleen (Louis) Mason, Windsor Forks; Carol Winters, (Kerry Oickle), Newport Corner; sons, Blair (Brenda), Kentville; Robert, Waterville; 7 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 7 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sisters, Lois (Charles) McCulloch, Brooklyn; Rita Barker, Toronto, Ontario; brothers, Joseph Dykens, Three Mile Plains; Malcolm (Joan) Dykens, Brampton, Ontario; half-sisters, Evelyn (Archie) Swinamer, Three Mile Plains; Mary (Ronnie) Miller, Sackville; half-brother, Gerald Shearer, Kendall Lane; several nieces & nephews. Barbara was predeceased by son, Gary; grandson, Kenneth; sister, Doris (Maynard) Arsenault; brother, Cyril "Buck". Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2007, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. July 8, 2007 to July 14, 2007, continued LANGAN, Ida Margaret - 88, Windsor, formerly of Middleton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home. Born in Alexandra, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Bracken and Ann (Houghey) Wood. As a young girl, Ida enjoyed playing sports, especially hockey. She continued her love for sports in her later years, she enjoyed playing golf, and watching hockey and baseball. Ida enjoyed knitting and she also loved gardening and working outdoors. Ida had worked as a finance clerk for the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. Ida was a loving and caring wife and will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 30 years, Barry. Also surviving are son, David Wood, Charlottetown; grandson, Stephen; sisters, Hazel and Agnes. She was predeceased by her sister, Doris, and brother, William. A special thank you to the staff of the Windsor Elms for all their loving care that they gave Ida. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There was no visitation by request. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, in Lohnes Funeral Service Chapel, Kelly Burke-King officiated. A reception followed in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late George and Evelyn (Sanford) Chambers. Art was employed at various garages as a mechanic, and prior to his retirement he was employed with Valley Transfer then Valley-Merks Transfer and he was always keen about mowing his lawn. Art is survived by his loving wife, the former Imogene "Jean" Dill, children, Stephen, Calgary, Alberta; David, Blackie, Alberta; Pamela, Mosherville; Douglas (Wendy), Falmouth; Paul (Chrissie), Brooklyn; grandchildren, Stevie, Mark, Tanya, Amanda, Shane, Tara, Nicholas, Andrew, Brandon, Dustin, Meredith, Jaime, Damien, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Cameron, Ethan, and also one great-grandchild to be born in January; sisters, Edith Levy, Newport; Joan Turple, McPhee’s Corner; brothers, Ted (Lovee), Springfield; Gordon, Newport Station; George (Molly), Brooklyn; Harley (Ruth), Newport Station; Howard, Halifax; Ronald, Windsor; Lester (Shirley), Dartmouth; also several nieces and nephews.
