RCMP kept busy with accidents, thefts, mischief

The Annapolis RCMP detachment responded to 129 calls for assistance during the week of July 16 through July 23. Included in these calls were nine traffic incidents; 10 false 911s; two false alarms; and one domestic matter.

Following are highlights of these calls:

-- July 16 at 4 p.m. A caller reported that three flags were stolen from the town’s tourist bureau. Missing are one Nova Scotian flag, one Canadian flag and one Acadian flag.

-- July 16 at 9:38 p.m. Police received a report of a dangerous driver in Middleton. A dump truck was being driven erratically.

-- July 17 at 10:40 a.m. A property owner in Clementsvale reported a theft under $5000 after discovering a satellite dish had been stolen.

-- July 17 at 3:04 p.m. Police received a report that someone was riding a dirt bike on the elementary school property at Granville Ferry.

-- July 17 at 3:05 p.m. Police received a report of two speeding vehicles in Lequille.

-- July 17 at 4:46 p.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident in Milford. Minor injuries were sustained when the driver of a motorcycle hit a person on a bicycle.

-- July 17 at 5:07 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident on the Fitch Road. No injuries were sustained when a vehicle overturned in a ditch, trapping the occupant inside.

-- July 17 at 5:43 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident between two vehicles in Bridgetown. There were no injuries, but minor damage to property was reported.

-- July 17 at 6:19 p.m. Police were called to investigate a report of a break and enter into a Springfield residence.

-- July 17 at 9:51 p.m. Police received a noise complaint from a Bridgetown resident.

-- July 17 at 9:54 p.m. A Wilmot resident reported a complaint of mischief after discovering the property had been vandalized.

-- July 17 at 10:45 p.m. Police received a report of mischief in Meadowvale after eggs had been thrown at cars.

-- July 17 at 8:55 p.m. A Torbrook resident reported being assaulted and threatened.

-- July 18 at 3:11 a.m. Police were called to Wilmot after receiving a report of a break and enter in progress. The complaint was deemed to be unfounded.

-- July 18 at 2:43 a.m. Police received a report of a breech of probation in Middleton.

-- July 18 at 1:57 p.m. Police were called to Middleton after a person was grabbed and pushed against a building.

-- July 18 at 3:54 p.m. Police were called to Wilmot on a complaint of mischief after a vehicle was damaged.

-- July 18 at 10:12 p.m. Police received a report of speeding vehicles in Middleton.

-- July 18 at 11:52 p.m. Police received a report of dangerous driving in Meadowvale.

-- July 19 at 12:03 a.m. Police received a report of a prowler in Middleton. A suspicious person was looking in the windows of vehicles and homes.

-- July 19 at 7:51 a.m. Police received a report of items stolen from an unlocked vehicle in Clementsvale.

-- July 19 at 10:07 a.m. Police were called to a report of a traffic hazard on the 101 highway, when a tractor with no plates was seen hauling a trailer. The driver was located and spoken to and agreed to install four-way flashers.

-- July 19 at 11:26 a.m. Police were called to Middleton after a driver failed to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

-- July 19 at 6:25 p.m. Police were called to Exit 18A in Middleton to locate a possible impaired driver.

-- July 19 at 7:44 p.m. Police were called to a fight in progress in Bridgetown.

-- July 20 at 12:43 a.m. Police were called to Meadowvale after a youth was reported to be breaking trees and trying to set them on fire.

-- July 20 at 6:37 a.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Middleton after a delivery truck hit a power pole and knocked out electricity and phone.

-- July 20 at 9:07 a.m. A property owner reported a break and enter into a home in southern Annapolis. Five firearms were stolen.

-- July 20 at 12:06 p.m. A Middleton resident complained that someone was ringing doorbells in the neighbourhood during the early morning and early evening hours.

-- July 20 at 12:20 p.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Carlton Corner.

-- July 20 at 2:18 Police were called to a motor vehicle accident near Bridgetown after a vehicle crossed the centerline and sideswiped two vehicles. A fourth vehicle tried to avoid the scene and became involved. Several people were transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.

-- July 20 at 4:20 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Farmington. A driver swerved to avoid hitting a bicycle and ended up in a potato field. No injuries were reported, and only minor damage to property.

-- July 20 at 6:01 p.m. Police were called to Hillsburn following a complaint of property damage. One male was arrested.

-- July 21 at 4 a.m. Police arrested an impaired driver in Spa Springs after he struck a police cruiser. There were five occupants in the car, all intoxicated.

-- July 21 at 8:19 a.m. Police received a report of a stolen garbage truck from Middleton. Electronic equipment was also taken. The vehicle was later recovered.

-- July 21 at 1:31 p.m. Police were called to a complaint of a break and enter into a Nictaux garage. A quantity of metal was stolen.

-- July 21 at 6:10 p.m. Police were called to Middleton after a group of youths was reported to be drinking and in possession of open liquor.

-- July 21 at 10:30 p.m. Police were called to Middleton to a fight outside the dance.

-- July 21 at 10:35 p.m. Police were asked to patrol a few streets of Middleton in response to reports of group tension.

-- July 22 at 1:11 a.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Middleton.

-- July 22 at 2:36 a.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Middleton.

-- July 22 at 2:39 a.m. Police were called to Annapolis Royal in response to a report of a suspicious person. A person climbed into the backseat of the caller’s car and fell asleep.

-- July 22 at 12:47 p.m. Police were called to Bridgetown after flowers were pulled out of the ground.

-- July 22 at 1:09 p.m. Police were called to Bridgetown in response to a complaint of threats.

-- July 22 at 1:50 p.m. Police were called to Lawrencetown after receiving a report of youths on the roof of the elementary school.

-- July 22 at 2:05 p.m. Police recovered a stolen vehicle in Middleton. The car had been stolen in Alberta, the subject was arrested and taken to jail.

-- July 22 at 7:23 p.m. Police were called to Bridgetown after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver. The driver was located and not found to be impaired.

-- July 23 at 10:33 a.m. Police were called to a traffic accident on the Ben Phinney Rd. A truck struck a power pole and the lines were posing a hazard across the road.
