On paper
An exhibition of mixed media art by Kentville artist Rachel Reeve will launch a new series of summer art exhibitions by new and emerging artists in Kings County. The exhibition runs until Aug. 5.
The series will be hosted at Legge Gallery, located in the Charles MacDonald House Museum in Centreville, and is co-ordinated by the Alliance of Kings Artists. The exhibition will feature about 20 works that include printmaking, collage and mixed media.
The series of images share common ground in the artist's travel through Europe and Asia. The collage work includes actual elements of 16th century handpainted wallpaper from the famous Swedish convent, Notre Dame de la Maigrauge.
Changeover
The Valley Regional Hospital Gallery, sponsored by the hospital auxiliary, changes over its art on the morning of July 26.
The registration and hanging of new works will take place after that with a new featured artist every second month.
Arts camps
The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts, north of Canning, is holding summer art academies that strike a balance between learning and honing artistic skills and the fun that comes with summer camp.
Professional artists are instructors, dedicated to help emerging, teenaged artists learn more about visual arts, theatre or film. Beginning July 29, teens from across Canada gather at Ross Creek for unbeatable instruction, artistic as well as personal confidence, friendships and memories.
The centre is holding its renowned drama camp for children ages 8-13 from July 22-27.
Professional performers will lead children in workshops. Sherry Lee Hunter, a performer who was a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Jest In Time Theatre Company and now teaches at Halifax Dance, will help them develop new skills and excitement.
Students can attend as day students or stay onsite. For more information or to register, call 582-3842 or visit
