From July 9 to July 15, Windsor District RCMP responded to 133 calls for service in all of Hants County.
Of these, there were 14 motor vehicle crashes reported and unfortunately one resulted in a fatality that occurred in Gypsum Mines July 14. Twenty-one traffic-related complaints were received, two of which involved ATVs. Most of the rest involved speeding and reckless driving. Three impaired driving complaints were taken and, as a result, two persons face impaired driving charges.
Members of Windsor District RCMP also conducted checkpoints in the following areas: Garland’s Crossing, Mt.Uniacke, East Uniacke and Windsor. Several written warnings and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act were issued.
Drivers are reminded to keep their vehicle paperwork in order: that is, valid motor vehicle inspection, insurance and registration.
Police responded to five false alarms and five misdialed 911 calls. As well, two complaints of uttering threats and three complaints of assault were received. Most of these are currently under investigation.
There were 10 complaints of theft; five regarding damage to property; 13 disturbing the peace calls; one possession of stolen property; one report of fraud; one report of lost property; three reports of found property; and two complaints under the Liquor Control Act.

Finally, Windsor District RCMP is investigating the theft of $500 from a vehicle parked on the Windsor waterfront. The theft occurred Saturday, July 14 between 7 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
The doors to the vehicle were locked, but the vehicle windows were partially open. Windsor District RCMP would like to remind the public that they should both lock their car doors and roll up the windows when the car is left unattended.
At 11 a.m. Friday June 29, a red 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen from the Windsor Mall on Water Street and recovered undamaged a short distance away. An attempted break and enter at the Irving Mainway in Mt. Uniacke is being investigated.
Early Wednesday July 4, two unidentified males tried to gain entry to the gas station through the side of the building, but were scared off when the paper delivery person arrived. Both males were wearing gloves and masks. Nothing was taken.
