Kings fire lines - as of July 16
June 29 at 8:15 a.m., the Berwick and District Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm sounding at the Somerset school, north of Berwick. When firefighters arrived, they found the stove in the kitchen was the cause of the alarm. There were no students attending school and, once firefighters determined the cause, they returned to the station.

June 30 at 12:57 p.m., Berwick responded in mutual aid to Waterville, which was responding to a barn fire on Highway 1 in Waterville. Berwick provided a tanker and rescue unit to the fire scene. Fire police closed Highway #1 from the Bond Rd. to the Rafuse Rd. for two hours. Berwick was released from the scene at 2:42 p.m.

A blaze that destroyed a vacant house in Meadowview is under police investigation as arson. The deliberatley set fire occurred at about 10 p.m. July 10. Kentville firefighters received assistance from the Port Williams, Canning, New Minas and Waterville departments. A firefighter received a minor injury from a fire hose spray, but was checked and released.

Earlier July 10, Kentville firefighters extinguished a roof fire at the Weavexx plant in Kentville. There was little fire damage, but a lot of smoke.

That afternoon, the Kentville department sent a team to aid the New Minas department dealing with a roof fire at a restaurant.

New Minas firefighters had a brisk week, including fires, rendering assistance at motor vehicle accident scenes and providing mutual aid.

July 11, the department responded to an alarm system in the village. They were at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the junction of Commercial Street and the Middle Dyke Road access July 12.

Tuesday was a heavy day for New Minas firefighters including: providing mutual aid to the Kentville department, which fought a roof fire at an industrial building in town; rendering assistance at a motor vehicle crash on Commercial Street; extinguishing a roof fire atop a new Minas restaurant; mutual aid to Kentville for a house fire; and another dumpster fire.

The Greenwich department provided stand-in coverage for the New Minas roof blaze.

Canning firefighters provided medical assistance in the village July 11, in the afternoon and another that evening. They provided a third medical assistance in Bennett's Bay July 13.

Waterville and District Fire Department answered five alarms recently. July 5 at 16:21, a report of power lines arching in tree branches on Maple Street came in. One pumper responded and returned at 16:40. July 9 at 16:15, a motor vehicle collision on Highway in Waterville required firefighters to assist with traffic and leaking fluids. Crews returned at 17:05. July 10, a house fire in Kentville at 22:06 required a tanker to the scene. It returned at 23:01. July 11 at 9:39, there was an alarm at the Plantation Campground. Crews returned at 9:53. Then, July 13 at 2:51, a single vehicle collision called firefighters to Highway 1 in Cambridge at the Cambridge road intersection. Crews and equipment returned at 3:30.
