Open Meeting

July 18 The Friends of Port Mouton Bay meeting on the continuing community opposition to the proposed Fish Farm at the West Queens Rec. Centre, River Head Road, Port Mouton, 7pm. All welcome.
Variety Show & BBQ Picnic

July 19 at Port Medway Fire Hall. (Picnic 4:30pm, Variety Show 7pm) Adm $5. Awesome local talent. Funds: Baptist Church new roof.

Lunch on the Lawn

July 20 at Royal Bank, 11-2pm. A free will donation to Queens General Hospital Aux. will be greatly appreciated and Lunch is on Us!

RECREATION REPORT

Mobile Aquatics Program resumes in two communities

The Region of Queens Municipality is pleased to announce the Mobile Aquatics Program, a longstanding tradition of providing aquatic instruction to children in communities throughout Queens, is scheduled to resume in Greenfield and East Port Medway. Swimming lessons began on the waterfront of the Ponhook Lodge Campground in Greenfield on Monday, July 16th and will continue until July 27th.

Registration for lessons in East Port Medway will be taken at the Recreation Department, 249 White Point Road, Liverpool, on July 24th and 25th, from 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. The lessons in East Port Medway will be held at the pool of Roy and Shirley Dagley.

Registration is limited and will be taken on a first come first served basis, with payment and completed waivers due at time of registration. For further information, please contact the Recreation Dept. at 354-5741.

Red Cross Swimming Lessons

Registration for Milton Centennial Pool Sessions 3 & 4 will be taken on July 24 & 25. Registration for Sessions 3 & 4 at the North Queens Aquatic Centre will be taken on July 24 & 25 at the pool from 9 am to 12 noon and 4-7 p.m.

Walk Your Way Through Summer

This season the Region of Queens Recreation Department is proud to offer a three-month walking program to promote healthy living and community involvement. We hope that our participants will reach an accumulative goal of 10,000 km, walked from June 1st to August 25th. There will be monthly prize draws and a grand prize draw at the end of the program. There is no cost for registration. There will be a scheduled group walk every Thursday for those who wish to participate. Messy Day, Greenfield

Get out those old clothes and join the Recreation Staff on July 18th, from 2 p.m. -4 p.m., at the Greenfield Recreation Centre for a day of play in an ewie-gooey mess! This event is for ages 5-12 years. The cost is $3 per person and a snack is included. Please pre-register by Friday, July 13th.

Messy Day, Liverpool

On July 19th, from 2 pm- 4 pm, pull out those old clothes boys and girls because today is the day the Recreation Staff wants to get you slipping and sliding and into an ewie-gooey mess at the Liverpool Guide Hut! This event is for ages 5-12 years. The cost is $3 per person and a snack is included. Please pre-register by Friday, July 13th.

Dude Day, Port Medway

July 24th, from 10 am- 12 pm. Warm up your fingers for a day filled with painting, playing and cardboard construction at the Port Medway Fire Hall! This event is for ages 5-11 years. The cost is $5 per person and a snack is included. Space is limited to 15 participants. Please pre-register by Friday, July 20th.

Community Health Day, Liverpool

On July 28th, from 12 pm- 4 pm, there will be a showcase of snacks and activities to improve your health at the Milton Community Hall. All ages are welcome, free of charge. Wear your sneakers and prepare you taste buds!

Motocross Demonstration/BMX Showcase, Liverpool

On July 30th, from 1 pm - 4 pm, get out your gear and suit up, it's BMX time! Enjoy a motocross demonstration behind Gorham School, Payzant Street, Liverpool and participate in a BMX showcase. This event is for ages 11 years and up. The cost is $5 per person and a snack is included. Please bring your own helmet and bicycle. Pre-register by Wednesday, July 25th.

Tennis Camp, Greenfield

On July 26th & 27th at the Greenfield Multipurpose Court from 1 pm-2 pm or 2 pm - 3pm, each day staff from the Liverpool Tennis Club will be instructing participants on how to play the game of tennis. This program is for children aged 6 years plus and costs $10 per person. A minimum of four participants per session is required. Please pre-register by Monday, July 23rd at the Recreation Department.
