July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 Sophie Nicole Martin – Infant daughter of Karen and Michael (Corkum) Martin, Cambridge, Kings County, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Tristan and a sister, Taylor; her maternal grandparents, Kathy (Bill) Pierce, Aylesford and Don (Debbie) Martin, Weymouth; her paternal grandparents, Wanda Corkum (Gary Goucher), Cambridge; aunts, uncles and cousins. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 RITCHIE, Brian Frank - 48, Pembroke, passed away Sunday July 1, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 5, 1958 in Yarmouth he is the son of Kenneth Ritchie and the late Rita (Smith). Brian owner and operated the Old Mill Seafood and Dairy Bar in Yarmouth and in the past owned Fresh Wave Seafood Fish Plant for 13 years. He loved wood working and gardening. Surviving are wife of 27 years the former Theresa Hubbard; a brother Kenneth (Pauline) Ritchie, Yarmouth; a sister Susan Berry, Pembroke; besides his mother he was predeceased by a brother Timmy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held Monday evening from 7 to 9, in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St. Yarmouth. No service in respect to Brian’s wishes. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 MUISE, James Albert - 83 Tusket Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully in his sleep July 1, 2007 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 23, 1923 in Central Argyle. He was the son of the late Felix and Louise (Thibeau) Muise, Tusket. Albert enjoyed helping others and gardening. He is survived by his sisters Elsie (Howard) Carr, Picton, ONT.; Barbra Hubbard, Tusket; Jennie Deveau (Nate Crosby) Dayton; Phyllis d’Entremont (Leigh Nickerson) West Pubnico; Brother Arthur (Prudy Muise) Greenville; Albert was predeceased by sisters Evelyn Comeau, Cape St. Mary; Isabelle Blauvelt, Tusket; Brothers Fanklyn Muise, Tusket; Leon Muise, Middleton; Wilfred Muise, Milford ONT., Cremation has taken place. Visiting hours were held Wednesday evening from 7 to 9, with prayers at 8 pm, both in H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert St. Yarmouth. Funeral mass was held Thursday at 2 pm from St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Crepin Khonde officiated, and interment followed in the parish cemetery. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 DOUCETTE, Bernard Nelson - 92, Spring haven Yarmouth Co., passed away on Sunday July 1, 2007. After a brief illness with cancer. Born August 5, 1914 in Melrose Mass. He was the son of Ozilda and Henry Doucette. He worked as a carpenter most his working life. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed teaching his skills to younger hunters. He was predeceased by his wife Ada Doucette and a brother Wilfred. He is survived by common law wife Beatrice Doucette of many years of Springhaven and a daughter Gertrude and son in law Kenny and two grandchildren Andrew and Justin, two great grandchildren, all of Yarmouth. a sister Leona Doucette at Villa St. Joseph du Lac. Visitation was from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday, with prayers at 8 pm, followed by a funeral service Wednesday July 4 at 2 pm., all in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St. Yarmouth. Deacon Stephen Bourque officiating. Interment followed in St. Agnes parish cemetery, Quinan. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the St. Agnes cemetery fund. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 KEMPTON, Jordan B. - 77, Yarmouth. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jordan Brenton Kempton on July 1, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 24, 1929, in Caledonia, he was a son of the late Audrey Kathleen Harlow and Stanley Solomon Kempton. Jordan was a retired insurance adjuster, a former partner in James & Kempton Adjusters Ltd. and later employed with Marsh Adjustment Bureau Ltd. He was a past president of the Yarmouth Rotary Club, the Yarmouth Golf and Curling Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge. In his retirement years, Jordan enjoyed driftwooding, wood carving, walks with his beloved dog Kushie and time with his two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Shirley Smith; son, Brent, Yarmouth; daughters, Jody (Brian) Belliveau, Yarmouth, and Kelly (Curt) Goudey, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Brandon and Mackenzie Goudey; brothers, Kendall (Verda), Halifax; Brian (Sally), Mount Uniacke; and sister, Kathleen “Kaye” (Garry) Weese, Middleton. He was predeceased by his parents. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place with a private family gathering to follow at a later date. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 MASLAND, Linda Muriel—59 of Liverpool, NS passed away peacefully in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, July 1st, 2007. Born in Fredericton NB, she was the daughter of the late David and Ella (MacPherson) Boone. Linda was educated in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Hartford Conn. She worked at Oak Island and Bonnie Lee Farm for a number of years. She worked for the South Queens District School Board since 1988 and was the union representative for the PSA's. She was a tireless volunteer in various fundraising activities in the community. She is survived by son, Adam (Kim) Masland; daughter, Jennifer (Owen) Charlton both of Liverpool; sister, Andrea Boone of Fredericton NB; sister-in-law. Victoria (Larry) Booth of Orillia Ontario; grandchildren Kelsey Clattenburg, Kieran Clattenburg, Cooper Charlton; nieces Ashley Booth, Alison Booth, Olivia Booth; nephews Marcus Booth and Jared Booth and several uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by husband Christopher, and infant son Richard John. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home. A celebration of Linda's life was held Thursday, July 5th 200, from the Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Lay Minister Judy Cross officiated. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 CONNOLLY, Hazel Oneta—95, of Queens Manor, Liverpool, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007 in Queens Manor. Born in East Port Medway, she was a daughter of the late Leander and Mary Jane (Wamboldt) Phalen. Hazel was a former volunteer at the Queens County Museum as well as a former member of Zion United Church, Liverpool and Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by daughters: Lorraine (Clair) Hupman of Summerville Centre; Nancie (Jack) Nunan of Plano, Texas; sons: Fredric (Janet) of Stanhope, PEI, James (Sharon) of Charleston; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Marguerite Lohnes of Simpson’s Corner. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick; sister, Loretta Nauss and brothers Herman and Horace. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service was held Friday, July 6, 2007 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Rev. Jennifer Garbin officiated. Burial was in East Port Medway Community Cemetery. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 FITZGERALD, Anthony “Tony” Joseph – 75, Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth, and formerly of Surette’s Island, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in the manor. Born November 25, 1931 in Surette’s Island, he was a son of the late Pierre E. and Rose Helene (Doucet) Fitzgerald. Surviving are a brother, Leonard Fitzgerald, Hubbard’s Point; sisters, Marie King, Villa St. Joseph, Dayton; Evelyn Doucette, Hubbard’s Point; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred, Clovis and Bernie Fitzgerald; sisters, Flora Belliveau and Lorraine LeBlanc. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 Thursday, with prayers at 8 pm, both in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held Friday at 10:30 AM from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Father Crepin Khonde officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. July 1, 2007 to July 7, 2007 Anita Geraldine Hiltz -78, Berwick, Kings Co. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on July 3, 2007, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born August 21, 1928, in South Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Alcorn) Pineo. She was an avid gardener, reader, member of the Berwick United Church, and lifetime member of the United Church Women. Her true devotion was to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is dearly missed by her husband of 59 years, John Elwood Hiltz, Berwick, her children, Connie (John) Archer, Berwick, Paula (Joe) Burrell, Montreal, Dr. John (Crystal) Hiltz, Halifax, Marsha (Tom) Easson, Berwick, and Anna (Adrian) Page, Berwick, and her grandchildren David Archer, Jonathan Hiltz, William Easson, Leanne Easson, and Lauren Page. She is survived by her sister Jean Swindell, Berwick, as well as several nieces and nephews. Anita was lovingly and faithfully cared for during her last four years by special caregivers Dorothy Saltzman, Mary Ann Harrington, Pat White and Carolyn Meister. She was predeceased by her sister Emelie Ayling, and brother Jack Pineo. There was no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service for Anita was held Friday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at the Berwick United Church, 240 Commercial St., Berwick. Reverend Murray Shaw officiated. Interment followed in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Berwick United Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the H.C.
