Four rescued after vessel sinks off Clark’s Harbour

Four people were plucked from their life raft by a neighboring vessel, transferred to a Coast Guard cutter and delivered to Pubnico after their fishing boat Master Jamie sank 65 kilometers southwest of Cape Sable Island.
The mayday call from the boat, which was skippered by Dennis D'Entremont, was received by Fundy Traffic just after midnight Thursday. The radio operator provided a partial location and said they were taking on water.
Fishing vessels Atlantic Preserver and Hanna Elizabeth were in the area saw the red flares and responded.
The three-person crew and one fisheries observer were taken from their life raft by the Hanna Elizabeth at 12:56 a.m. The Coast Guard cutter Clarks Harbour met them and took the survivors to Pubnico where they arrived around 4:30 a.m.
“They said everyone was cold and wet, but there were no injuries,” said JRCC Maritime Coordinator Barry Smith.
A cormorant helicopter on standby was not dispatched due to the quick response of neighboring vessels.
