June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 DAVISON, Jane Elizabeth “Jenny” - age 96, of Ellershouse, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2007, at her home. Born on June 4, 1911, in Newport Corner, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Annie Bell (MacLeod) Brown. Jenny was a member of the St. Louise Union Church, the U.C.W. and was presented with an award honoring her as a U.C.W. life member. In her earlier years, she enjoyed gardening, dancing, shopping and her Saturday night card parties in the community. She always loved company at her home, the coffee pot was always on, and all were welcome. She is survived by a son, Robert “Bobby” (Linda) Davison, Halifax; grandchildren, Phillip (Pamela); Mike (Connie); Stephen (Yvonne); Tanya; and Shawn (Tanya Rogers); great-grandchildren, Leigh; Rebecca (Paul) Kilcup; Ryan; Tyler; and Erin; daughter-in-law, Pauline Davison, Ellershouse. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Arthur “Art” Charles Davison (1984); sons, Donald Arthur Davison (1995); Norman Walter Davison (2007); step-mother, Pearl (Cochrane); sisters, Mable MacRae; Flora “Flo” Brown; Marguerite Brown; Gladys “Gay” Brown; Maude Davis; and Grace “Polly” Canavan; a brother, Allister Brown; and two brothers in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was held, 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in St. Louise Union Church, Ellershouse. Intern Kelly Burke-King officiated. Interment was at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, followed by a reception at Jenny’s home. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 Helen Claudine Kinsman – 89, formerly of Canaan, Kings County, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2007 in Evergreen Nursing Home, Kentville. Born in Canaan, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Clara (Bishop) Kinsman. She was a homemaker and dedicated her life to caring for her family and the family farm. She was a former member of the Canaan Women’s Institute and the Good Neighbor Club. She enjoyed singing. She was the last surviving member of her family and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Leanna Cairns; nine brothers, Barry, Lloyd, Clyde, Albert, Murray, Harry, Gordon, Dave and Donald. There was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception was held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 22 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Chaplain Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet officiated. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 Alwilda Mae Brown – 69, of West Brooklyn, Kings County passed away Monday, June 18 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville she was a daughter of the late Harding and Leota (Goler) Pinch. She had been employed with William King of Avonport and was a dedicated wife and homemaker. In her earlier years she enjoyed talking on the C.B. Radio with friends and attending Bingo. She is survived by her children, Gary (Claude), CFB Petawawa, Ontario; Cecil (Wanda), Canning and Timothy (Laura), West Brooklyn; four brothers, Bud (Jean), Wallbrook; Raymond (Pauline), Wolfville; Harold, New Minas; Kenneth (Shirley), West Brooklyn; two sisters, Charlotte MacAulay, Halifax and Gladys, Aylesford; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; a son Lloyd Jr.; two daughters, Judy-Ann and Vicki; three brothers Graham, Victor, Alfred; two sisters, Jesse and Mabel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by reception was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 21 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Barbara Cochran officiated. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 Douglas Eugene Aalders – 73, of Kentville, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Harry and Blanche (Langille) Aalders. He had been employed with Ron Illsley Motors, New Minas and later with Best Toyota, Kentville. He also operated his own garage and was employed with Aalders Irving on Chester Avenue, Kentville. He was an antique car enthusiast, having attended and participated in many car shows. He enjoyed gardening, especially his flowers. He is survived by his wife, the former Alma Balcom; a sister, Paulette Cuilliver, Keswick, Ontario; two brothers, Harry, Kentville and Garnett (Sherry Vaughan), Aldershot, Kings County; many nieces and nephews. There was no visitation by family request. The funeral service followed by a reception was held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Robert Billings officiated. A private family burial took place in the Nictaux Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 ENSOR, George Douglas, 81, of Chester Basin, formerly of Shelburne, passed away in South Shore Regional Hospital on Monday, June 18, 2007. Born on August 6, 1925, at Harper’s Lake, Shelburne County, he was the only child of the late Norman Ensor and Florence Lecane. As a young man, George raised turkeys and later worked at Dick MacAlpine’s Boat Shop building life boats during the Second World War. George then continued working in the Shelburne area as a self-employed carpenter until his retirement. George was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also continued to enjoy working as a hobby after retirement. George educated his sons in the field of carpentry. He married Ethel (Bower) Garber in 1954 and later married Shirley (Hapenny) and lived in Birchtown until her passing. George is survived by children, Harold (Linda), Jordan Falls; Eric (Donna), Ohio: Dale, Dartmouth; Jill Ensor, Jordan Falls; Colleen (Ken) Pepin, Chester Basin; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Todd. Funeral service will be Thursday, June 21, 2007 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne with Rev. Troy Dennis officiating. Interment in Pine Grove cemetery. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 CRAWFORD, Michael Benson - 41, Yarmouth, passed away suddenly in Yarmouth on June 19, 2007. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of Edward and Myrtle Miller, both of Greenville. Michael loved the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and also loved to go fishing. He was currently working at Sobeys in Yarmouth. He had a great sense of humour. He was a loving father and grandfather to his two children and special granddaughter. He will be sadly missed by his family. Michael is survived by his daughter, Candace; Yarmouth; son, Michael (Turrel), Yarmouth; special granddaughter, Madison; brothers, Blair Bishop, Toronto; Roy (Lori), Kentville; sisters, Rosemary (Mike) Miller, Yarmouth; Cheryl Ann Miller, Dartmouth; Diane (Randy) Goodwin, Dartmouth; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Marguerite and Ivan Crawford; paternal grandparents, Francis Lynch and John Miller. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 YOUNG, Phyllis - 91, passed away peacefully in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, June, 20, 2007. Born in Young’s Cove, Annapolis County, December 24, 1915, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Maria (White) Young. Phyllis was a very witty, kind hearted person who always enjoyed visits from family and friends. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews and all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by sisters, Alberta, Marguerite, Hazel and Jean; brothers, Bernard, Chester, Guy, John and Fred. Cremation has taken place. Born in Windsor Forks, she was a daughter of the late Stillman and Ethel (Spencer) Keddy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She enjoyed her daily walks and sitting under the tree on her front yard. She especially enjoyed visiting with the many people that would pass by each day. She is survived by a daughter, Anne (William) Riley, Aldershot; two sons, Donald (Linda), Aldershot; Earl (Grace), Calgary, Alberta; 19 grandchildren, Theresa, Ann Marie, Timothy, Tabitha, Mark, Emily, Vincent, Kenneth, Tyler, Drew, Johnathon, Pieter, Tammy, Melissa, Lisa, Jody, Rodney, Ryan, Jeremy and Justin; 30 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; a daughter, Barbara; a son, Brian; two grandchildren, Shayne and Melissa; two sisters, Hilda Keddy and Sophie Keddy; two brothers, Laurie Keddy and Austin Bishop. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 LENT, Frank Irving - 86, South Ohio, passed away in Tidal View Manor on June 21, 2007. Born in Overton on May 2, 1921, he was a son of the late Harry and Marion (Servant) Lent. Frank was an overseas veteran serving in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy. In his earlier years, Frank worked for Dominion Textiles. During his later years, he worked for the M.V. Bluenose. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 61, Yarmouth. Frank enjoyed puttering around outdoors and was very proud of his gardens. He loved the ocean and traveling. His family was very special to him. Frank is survived by daughter, Clarise (David) Diggins, Middleton; sons, Robert (Beverly), Inverary, Ont.; David (Emily), South Ohio, Yarmouth Co.; Donald (Karen), Brenton, Yarmouth Co.; brother, Wilfred Lent, Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Linda, John and Joseph Lent, Daniel, Jonathan and Julia Diggins, Jemie and Andrew Lent, Shila and Adam Lent; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel; son, Harry; brothers, Clayton, Douglas, Ronald; sisters, Margery, Mary, Jean, and Dorothy. June 17, 2007 to June 23, 2007 Henrietta Mary Silver – passed away Saturday, June 23, 2007. Born in Medford, she was a daughter of the late Alvie and Evelyn (Schofield) Schofield. She had been employed in the home of Dr. Horace and Mrs. Gertrude Foley. She was a lifelong member of the Pereaux Baptist Church and a former member of the Canning Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with people and traveling, especially going for drives in the car. She is survived by a brother, John (Mable) Schofield, New Minas; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is also survived by the members of the Foley family who cared for her as if she were family. She was predeceased by her husband, William Silver. There was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Thelma McLeod officiated.
