TEA TASTING

Le Village historique acadien in West Pubnico is hosting a specialty tea tasting from 1:30-3 on Wednesday, June 27 featuring a variety of teas and a small lunch.

SELF DEFENCE COURSE

June 27

Yarmouth Leisure Services is hosting a ladies self-defence course on Wednesday, June 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rotary Centre, Hebron Recreation Complex. Mario Ross teaches women how to defend themselves in everyday situations. Limited space. Register by calling 742-8868.

YARD SALE

June 30

A fund-raising yard sale will be held June 30 at the Yarmouth legion hall. Table rentals $5. Info: 742-7788. Other legion events: dance on June 30 with the band Doin Country, bingo, Wednesdays at 7:30 and Ken Shirley’s open mic Thursdays from 7:30-10:30. (Free admission).

CANADA DAY

July 1

Canada Day will be celebrated at Le Village historique acadien in West Pubnico from 4-6 p.m. featuring games, toys from yesteryear, cake, balloons, prizes for the kids, lobster chowder and sandwiches at Le Cafe du Crique.

FUNDRAISER

July 1

The 13th annual SAR ox haul/church fundraiser, Sunday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. Chinese auction, yard sale, raffle sale, rappie pie, hot dog, subs, licensed refreshments. All proceeds going towards repairing the roof of Ste Anne’s Church. Rain date- July 2.

BIBLE SCHOOL

July 2-6/Aug 13-17

Avalanche Ranch Vacation Bible School will be held at Zion Baptist Church, Parade Street, July 2-6 and Aug 13-17 from 9-11 a.m. Free registration. Games, singing, snacks, crafts and stories. Info: church office, 902-742-3181.

YARD SALE

A yard sale will be held Saturday July 7, 8 a.m. until noon at Beacon United Church. Rain or shine.

The Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department will hold a strawberry social and yard sale July 7 from 1-4 p.m. (Cold plate, strawberries and sweets.) $10 a ticket. For advance tickets call Gordon Raynard 740-3018 or purchasee them at the door.

DAY CAMP

Starts July 9

A free summer day camp for children 6 to 11 years of age sponsored by Juniper House begins July 9. There will be seven one week camps held at Central School between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Arts and crafts, outdoor play, daily topics and related activities (e.g. self- esteem, angry feelings), lunch and snacks provided. Registration is required. QUILT SHOW

PARADE

July 15

CLOSING MASS

July 15

The closing mass for Saint Cleophas Church in Hectanooga will be celebrated on Sunday, July 15 at 3 p.m.

BELL CONCERT

July 19

There will be a bell concert at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, William Street, Yarmouth, on Thursday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. Lemonade, coffee and cookies will be served. Donations towards the restoration of the bells will be welcome. Secular and sacred music. Rain date will be the next evening at 6:30.
