Ernest Murray — 65, of Charleston, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007, in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the Charles and Nora (Slaunwhite) Rhyno. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ernie worked as a mechanic all of his life. He loved gardening, going for drives and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Violet; daughters: Dawn (Jamie) Croft of Charleston, Angela of Brooklyn, Kim (Scott) Saulnier of Liverpool; grandchildren: Adam, Ryan, Zackery, Logan, Hailey; brothers: Royce (Marie) of Bridgewater, George (Connie) of Timberlea, Lawrence (Sheila) of Halifax, Ivan of Dartmouth. MUISE, Lillian Rose - 89, Hubbard's Point, died June 8, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on May 25, 1918, in Hubbard's Point, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Louise Melanson. Lillian enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family. She was a very giving person, and was very generous to her family and loved them all very much. John Edward — 91, of Hunt's Point, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, Liverpool, Saturday, June 9, 2007. Born in Hunt's Point, he was a son of the late Clarence and Effie (Smith) Hagen. John worked as a chef in several hotels throughout Nova Scotia and later opened the Maple Leaf Tea Room in Hunt's Point for a number of years. He was a former employee of Steel and Engine Products Limited (STENPRO) and retired in 1980 after 27 years service. He was a devoted, life-long member of St. James Anglican Church, Hunt's Point, held various offices and served as warden for 43 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Beatrice Farquhar; daughter, Joan Gallagher and granddaughter, Janet Papa, both of York, ME; grandson, William Gallagher of Boston, Mass.; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Chantal Papa; sister, Gladys Salsman of Grimsby, ON; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Hubley; step-sisters, Helen Nickerson and Lillian Darling. Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 13, in St. James Anglican Church, Hunt's Point; Rev. CANN, Dorothy H. - 80, Yarmouth, passed away June 9, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Oyster Pond on October 11, 1926, she was a daughter of James Hartlen and Annie Webber, both of Oyster Pond. She was a member of United Church of Canada. She worked as a cleaner at the V.G. Hospital. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her husband, Charles Cann, Yarmouth; sons, Gordon Cann, Yarmouth; Tony Cann, Yarmouth; granddaughters, Judy and Shaunna. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters. The remains are resting in Sweenys Funeral Home, Yarmouth. HAMILTON, Larry David - 62, Deerfield, Yarmouth Co., died Saturday, June 9, 2007, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital from cardiac arrest brought on by a 53 year ongoing battle with diabetes. Born in South Ohio and raised in Forest Glen, he was the son of L. Adeline (Gray) Hamilton and the late George W., devoted husband of Gloria Florene (Moses) and loving father to Dr. Tamara Dawn Hamilton of Montreal. He graduated from Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School and then earned a certificate in Radio Servicing from Yarmouth Vocational. He worked various jobs in Ontario and Yarmouth until spring of 1979 when he joined Sears Canada in Yarmouth as a service technician and spent 21 years in their employ. Larry was a humble man and was an avid outdoorsman for as long as his health would allow. He loved music and was always singing, sometimes using lyrics of his own fabrication. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He is survived by sisters, Audrey (William) MacDonald, Digby; Shirley (Mervin) Newell, East Pubnico; brothers, Harold, Ont.; Maurice (Heather), Forest Glen; John (Brenda), Halifax; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Ross (Linda), Forest Glen. Funeral service under the direction of Pastor Mike Cannell was held Monday, June 11 at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Gregory Allen Berry - 45, Greenwich, formerly of Hortonville, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007 at home. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Ken and Rose (Best) Berry. Greg worked in the farming industry most of his life and was most recently employed with Burt Peters. He will be remembered as an animal lover, especially horses and dogs. Greg will be loved and sadly missed by many family members and friends. John Francis “Buster” Paris, age 87, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on March 1st, 1920, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Percy & Elizabeth (Ash) Jackson. Buster was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a member of the Windsor United Baptist Church and a past member of the church choir. He was an executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch No.9, Windsor. He retired from Canada Post after years of service with the Windsor Post Office. He had been involved with the Lions Club, Windsor Air Cadets, he coached minor sports, recipient of Nova Scotia Volunteer of the Year Award, a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Canadiens. Buster served on various committees for the town of Windsor, the Baptist Church, the Royal Canadian Legion and leaves behind a long legacy related to his sporting youth and those he coached and mentored over the years.
