Run for Wishes sweeps through Hants County

Crew of HMCS Halifax are on the run this month to raise funds for the Children's Wish Foundation. On June 14, Navy crew members joined students from the Falmouth Elementary School cross-country team and Windsor Elementary to run the distance between the two schools, stopping at local businesses along the way for donations.

Last year’s Children's Wish Fund recipient, Rebbecca Rehberg of Brooklyn, was at the starting line in Falmouth to cut the ceremonial ribbon and send runners on their way.

Dozens of students burned lots of excess energy running the several kilometre distance and raised hundreds of dollars for the foundation.

It takes about $10,000 to make a 'wish' come true. Between the penny-drop at Falmouth Elementary earlier that week, a cheque donation made by Windsor Elementary and funds picked up along the run, over $1,000 was raised in Hants County.
