June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued Maisie Grace Chapman - peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Wednesday June 6, 2007. Maisie Chapman of Barrie at the age of 71 years. Beloved wife of Claude Chapman. Loving mother of Betty Langdon (husband Earl) of Barrie, Donna Wells (Grant Smockum) of Willow Beach and Randy Chapman of Barrie. She will be sadly missed by her three grandchildren Warren Chapman, Jenna Chapman and Alaina Langdon. Predeceased by her grandson Corey Chapman (M ay 2007). Dear sister of Hazel Kynock, Victor Kynock and Doris Clamp (Walter). Predeaceased by her 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Special Aunt of Mitchell (partner Robert). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends were invited to call at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME (201 Minet's Point Road at Younge Street) Barrie on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held from the chapel on Saturday June 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. Cremation followed. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued Sheryl Maureen Leask - 56, New Minas, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Kathleen M. Leask, Ottawa, and George G. Leask, Toronto. Sheryl was educated at Mount Saint Vincent Academy, Provincial Teachers College, and Acadia University. A teacher by profession, she taught for many years in Kings County schools. She developed a life long passion for music while attending the Mount and belonged to various choirs. Sheryl had a keen interest in the outdoors, and combined this with her love of travel; spending her summers canoeing and camping. She also loved animals and leaves behind her faithful friend, Piper. Sheryl, along with Piper, would visit nursing homes where Piper was used as a therapy dog lifting the spirits of many residents of the homes. Sheryl will lovingly be remembered by her family and many friends. Besides her mother and father, Sheryl is survived by her brother Bryan (Heather) Leask, Head of St. Margaret's Bay, and her nieces Caryn Leask and Katy Martins, both of Halifax. Sheryl was predeceased by infant sister Karen. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service was held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 3:00 pm from the Port Williams United Baptist Church with Rev. David Ogilvie officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal shelter of one's choice. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued EISNER, Lawrence "Alden" - 65, of Brickton, NS, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Born in Middleton he was a son of the late Lawrence and Ruth (Wade) Eisner. Alden studied fine arts at Mount Allison University, taught school for a year in Brooklyn, Hants Co. and was an art teacher at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Returning to the valley, he was employed at DenHaan's Enterprises, where he was well known and respected for his horticultural and landscape designs. He is survived by sisters, Loretta (George) Piper, Melvern Square; Judy (John) Reece, West Paradise, NS; brothers, David (Sandra) Eisner, Beaconsfield; Phil Eisner, Brickton and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Brickton Community Hall at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Charity of Choice. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued Pauline Hilda Price - 77, of Kentville, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Scotts Bay, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Zelma (Sanford) Huntley. She had been active with her Inter Church Council where she knit numerous pairs of socks and mittens. She was a member of the former Glooscap Rebekah Lodge No. 118, Canning. She is survived by three children, Gwen (Edward) Green, Kentville, Geoff Price, Windsor and Roger Price, South Rawdon; three step children, Donna (Gerry) Barkhouse, Canning; Linda (Edward) Lynch, North Alton and Ivor Jr. (Brenda) Price, Prince Edward Island; a sister, Isabelle Steele, Scotts Bay; a brother, Paul (Brenda) Huntley, New Minas; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivor Price; four sisters, Minnie, Annette, Lois and Mabel; six brothers, Charles, Stanley, Vernon, Walter, Glendon, Earl; infant sibilings and a grandson, Kalon. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Rebekah Lodge service held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, Reverend Larry Doyle officiated. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued FOSTER, Harold Reise "Arthur" - 73, of Greenwood Village, NS, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Born in East Arlington, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Reise and Lillian (Banks) Foster. Arthur worked at Baker's Store in his early years, then, joined the Canadian Army for 9 years and later retired from the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He was an avid card player, loved music, had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed good conversation. Arthur is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Eva Baker; daughters, Becky (Peter) Vanderburgt, Ajax, ON; Jean (Brian) Orendorff, Edmonton, AB; Crystal (Robin) Smith, Bath, ON; Carla (Charles) Thornton, Hampton, ON; sons, Edward and Eric both of Kingston, ON; brother, James, Mount Hanley; grandchildren, Shawn and Jordon Vanderburgt; Jeremy and Ian Draper; Devin Orendorff; Kaitlyn Thornton and Benjamin Smith. †He was predeceased by son, Jim; brothers, Calvin and Earl, and an infant sister. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued BOURQUE, Herman - Our family sadly announces the passing of a devoted husband, an affectionate father, a dedicated grandfather, a proud great-grandpere, and a compassionate brother/brother-in-law. Herman Louis Bourque passed away on June 3, 2007, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer. Herman is survived by his loving wife Anne (Tesluk), who nursed him through his final journey, and his devoted children: Darlene (Garnet) Tylee, Marilyn (Todd) Warren, Jim (Marilee) Bourque, Russell (Elaine) Bourque, and Lynnette (Doug) Goodale. Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren who always admired his strong wit, memory, and generosity: Michelle (Mark) Marchesano, Shawn (Holly) Tylee, Krystal (Justin) Bereziuk, Robin, Bradley, Ryan, and Stacey Bourque, Zachary, Wesley and Meghan Goodale. Kyra, Toren, Madison and Rachel have also lost a much loved great-grandpere. Herman also leaves to mourn his two special brothers, Bernard and Roland (Pauline) Bourque of Nova Scotia, brothers-in-law Walter (Sandy) Tesluk, Eddy (Lynda) Romanyshyn, and sisters-in-law, Olga Houle of Manitoba, Olesia Romanyshyn, Mae, Emma and Clare Bourque of Nova Scotia, will always remember Herman's wit. Several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews will always remember the good times they shared with Uncle Herman. Close friends Jacqueline Burke and friends at the Villa Kiev will miss the social times they exchanged over the years. Herman was an active member for 38 years at the ODD FELLOWS UNITY LODGE NO. 47, where he participated in several duties. Herman was also an employee for the Hamilton Street Railway for 33 years where he retired and pursued his cottage dreams. Herman is predeceased by his parents, Adolphe and Marie, his brothers; Lawson, Richard, Ligourie, Leopold, and his sister Josephine Doucette; sisters-in-law, Marion Pesiak, Janet Bourque, Millie Bourque, Phyllis Bourque, and his best friend Able Burke. Dad's life focused on his family, friends, and spending peaceful times at their cottage in Clearwater Lake, The Pas, Manitoba. He truly provided his family with the strength / encouragement to pursue their goals, reach for the stars, and most of all to have fun along the way! The family is very grateful and extends their sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the V.O.N. Community Care Access, and St. Peter's Palliative Care Team, for their compassion, guidance and constant care during Herman's final days. Mom, your strength, care and compassion also allowed Dad to live his final days with pride and dignity. We love you very much. Born in Yarmouth on May 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Ashton and Mildred (Newell) Goodwin. Gilbert leaves behind a son, Michael (Barb) Goodwin; daughters, Mildred (Murray) Ford, and Darlene Goodwin, all of Yarmouth; step-son, Bill (Ann) LeBlanc, Port Maitland; sisters, Lillian and Eileen, both of Yarmouth; Sandra, British Columbia; brothers, Aubrey and Burton, Halifax; Arnold, Yarmouth; grandchildren, Garrett, Alyssa, Colton, Peter, Sean, Michelle, Ashley, Keenan, Jessie, Tressa, Scott & Lisa; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Maddyx, Jon, Mike, Jessica, Jennifer, Emily, Cole, Riley, Hannah and Liam. Gilbert was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (LeBlanc) Goodwin; daughter, Mary Elaine, in infancy; son, John; step-son, Bobby “Inky”; sister, Pauline. Gilbert worked as a scallop fisherman all his working life. He helped organize the CBRT (scallopers union), prior to his retirement. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 61, Yarmouth. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was from 1 to 2 PM Monday. Funeral service took place at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 11 from H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Ev. A. D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Born in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Ring) Goodwin. Lillian is survived by her children, Ian (Donna), Kentville; Sandra (Brian) Smith, Halifax; and Duane (Dorothy), Vancouver Island, B.C.; grandchildren, Vanessa and Amanda Smith, Robert Aaron, Matthew and Thomas Woodburn; brother, William “Bill” (Gladys) Goodwin. June 3, 2007 to June 9, 2007 continued Robert Murray, age 91, Three Mile Plains, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at the home of his daughter, in Hantsport, with family by his side. Bob was born on October 12, 1915, in the section of Three Mile Plains, known at that time as Mapleton, and more commonly know today as Garland's Crossing. He was the son of the late Walter Scott Brown and the late Edith Lenore (Finlay) Brown. Bob lived in Three Mile Plains throughout his life, moving to Hantsport, 4 years ago due to declining health, where he received excellent and loving care by his daughter, Barb and son-in-law, Larry Lecouter. Bob was employed as a carpenter, working for several years at Curry's woodworking factory in Curry's Corner, until it closed and then started his own business, Brown's Woodworking. He also did woodwork repairs in several schools in West Hants. Bob was a kind and gentle soul with a great sense of humour. He enjoyed relaxing hours gardening, painting and woodcarving. Bob and his wife Dot, opened their home to many foster children over the years and both volunteered at Dykeland Lodge for several years. He is survived by his daughters, Anna Gallie, Kempt Shore, N.S./London, Ontario; Barbara (Larry) LeCouter, Hantsport; Cindy, Calgary, Alberta; sons, Elmer, Three Mile Plains; William (Margaret), Bedford; Francis, New Minas; sister, Helen Brown, Three Mile Plains; brothers, William, Barrington Passage; Elmer, Three Mile Plains; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patricia, Christine, Darlene, Jean, Jody, Rhonda, Wyatt, Shaynna, Deanna, and Jason; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, the former Dorothy "Dot" Shaw (2000); brother, Warren; a sister in infancy; and also by a grandson in infancy. The family was grateful for the excellent care Bob received, from Dr. Jim Leahy, the help and support from Continuing Care, Kristen, Deanna and Marianne. Born in West Green Harbour, he was a son of the late Joseph and Evangeline (Burke) Scott. Carroll was a fisherman all his life and along with the many boats he owned, was most proud of the two boats built for him “The Three Daughters” and “The Snow Boys”. He enjoyed hunting, camping, his trucks, telling exaggerated stories and his beloved dog, “ Scott”. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth (Sperry); daughters, Thelma (Mark) Snow, Canada Hill; Leah (Roger) Harding, Lockeport; Hilda (Dean) MacKenzie, Lockeport; grandchildren, Alicia (Broderick) Pollard; Noah Snow (Samantha); Tanya Snow (Martin); Tina Harding and Matthew Snow; great grandchildren, Caleb, Kristyn, Brandon, DeLana and Dylan; brother Lawrence ( Alice), West Green Harbour; sisters, Jessie Acker, Shelburne and Diane Sperry, West Green Harbour; many nieces and nephews.
