H.R.M. district chief visits Yarmouth
District fire chief Dave Burnett addressed local firefighters last Tuesday evening at the Yarmouth fire hall gathering information for the Fire Marshal's office in regards to proposed changes within the Nova Scotia fire service.
Among the items discussed were communications, minimum standards for firefighting and training for firefighters.
He encouraged those attending to give their opinions and suggestions on how to improve the above in their respective areas as all firefighters now travel to the fire school in Waverley for live fire training and certification. The goal is to have 90 per cent of all firefighters in Nova Scotia to travel no more than one hour to reach a training site.
