May 27, 2007 to June 2, 2007 Henry Joseph Sexton, age 79, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Falmouth, he was a son of the late Harold & Agnes (Hebb) Sexton. Henry worked for Butler Brothers in Halifax for over 35 years. He enjoyed driving his tractor & tending his cattle on his small farm in Falmouth. In his retirement years, he enjoyed doing carpentry work and odd jobs. After his wife Doreen passed away, Henry enjoyed leisure time with aunt Doris, uncle Bert and sister Marie. Surviving are his sons, Craig (Jacklyn), Falmouth; Wayne (Tracey), Falmouth; Brian (Katrina), Lethbridge, Alberta; grandchildren, Devin & Makayla; brothers, Ernest, Milk River, Alberta; Charlie (Shirley), Scotch Villiage; sister, Marie (David) Dill, Windsor; aunt, Doris (Bert) Palmeter, Falmouth; sisters-in-law, Irene Himmelman Sexton, Lequille, Annapolis County; Doris Ross Sexton, Ste. Croix and Elizabeth Smith Sexton, Union Corner. Henry was predeceased by his wife, the former Doreen Wilcox; brothers, Harold, William, James "Jim" and Eric Sexton; sisters, Lillian (Jack) Hardie & Evelyn (Howard) Leach. Visitation was 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June1, 2007, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated, followed by interment at the Centre Falmouth Cemetery. May 27, 2007 to June 2, 2007 DOUCETTE, Phyllis Lorraine – 52, Little River Harbour, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 2, 1954 in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Constance (Warner) Randall. She worked at Dominion Textiles in Yarmouth, until its closure, then realized her life-long dream of becoming a nurse, first working with Allen Homecare, and then with Harbourside Lodge, Yarmouth, for the past 13 years. She is survived by her best friend, and loving husband of 36 years, Harvey; daughters, Tammy (Chris) Muise, Arcadia and Constance (Neil) Boudreau, Melbourne, as well as three grandsons who thought the world of her, Jonathan, Jordan and Joshua, and a wonderful mother-in-law, Delphine Doucette. She is also survived by sisters, Nancy, Linda (Gary), Evelyn (Danny), Doris (Stan), Cynthia (Jimmy), Joyce (Ray); brothers, Edward (Doreen), Roy (Linda) and Kenneth. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Patsy and Janice, in infancy. She was also very close to her “family” at Harbourside Lodge. Phyllis will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. She was a very hard worker who loved the outdoors, and was often seen gardening. Visitation was held from 7-9 Tuesday, May 29 in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, cremation followed. A memorial service was held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 30 from Yarmouth North United Baptist Church, Elm Street, Yarmouth, Rev. A. D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Memorial donations may be made to Harbourside Lodge. May 27, 2007 to June 2, 2007 Victor Lewellyn Freeman – 79, of New Minas, Kings County, formerly of Rossway, Digby County, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on March 18, 1928 in Bear River, he was a son of the late William and Hilda (Mullen) Freeman. In his earlier years he drove a transport truck and then became involved in carpentry and excelled at finish carpentry and cabinet making. Vic found great enjoyment working in the woods. He enjoyed carving and jigsaw puzzles, was an avid vegetable gardener and loved to socialize. He was a charter member and former board member of the Digby Wesleyan Church. Vic will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Arlene Andrews; three daughters, Terry (Doug) Morgan, New Minas; Kathy (Jack) Freeman-Hatcher, Hanstport; Judy (Bill) Bennett, Kentville; two sons, William (fiancée, Debbie), Digby; Ronnie (Della), Windsor; two sisters, Lillis MacDormand, New Hampshire; Irene Lynch, Annapolis Royal; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Amy, Laura, Patrick, Samantha, Michael, Isaac and Seth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Vivian Goldsmith; five brothers, Allister Freeman, Alvin Freeman, Ellsworth Freeman, Perry Freeman and Laurie Thompson. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 in New Hope Wesleyan Church, 7054 Highway 12, North Alton, Reverend Scott Prime and Reverend Andrew Maves officiated. All were invited to join the family at 3:30 p.m. at the Digby Wesleyan Church to proceed to the burial which took place in the Rossway Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Catherine Dukeshire (nee Melanson) of Wasaga Beach, Ontario and formerly of Plympton, Nova Scotia was in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Floyd Dukeshire. Dear mother of the late Clarence (Duke), Linda and her husband Ron Saul of Churchill, Ontario. Dear grandma of Duaine (Andrea) and Danica Dukeshire; Daniel and Rhonda Saul. May 27, 2007 to June 2, 2007 Avery Jordan Anthony — 94, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in the Veteran's Unit at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Born in Milton, he was a son of the late John and Muriel (Townsend) Anthony. Jordan was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Army Corps. Following his discharge, he was employed with Steel and Engine Products Limited, (STENPRO) in Liverpool and later worked for Canada Post, Liverpool in maintenance. He loved hunting, trapping and fishing as well as woodcarving, baseball and his cats. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, bowling, shuffleboard and cards, especially crib. He will be fondly remembered for his harmonica playing. He is survived by daughters, Muriel (Raymond) Whynot of Milton, Deborah Anthony (Ramsay) of Charlottetown, PEI; sons, Nelson (Mary) of Scotsburn, Ivan (Yvonne) of Kitchener, ON, Dennis (Mary) of Liverpool; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Madora Keating of North Queens Nursing Home and Thelma of Mahone Bay Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Emily Idella Anthony; sisters: Mildred White, Florence Moores and Maybelle Whynot; brothers: Robie and Ron “Bud”. A Legion memorial service was held Thursday, May 31, in Chandlers' Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service was held June 1 at Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ; Rev. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late James and Laura (Danniels) Himmelman. May was a former employee of Mersey Seafoods, Liverpool. She is survived by daughters, Verna (Douglas) Bent, Charlotte (Tracy) Oickle, Margaret Hyson, Jane Louis, Ann Wentzell; sons, Kenny Forest and Gerald; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald Oickle, and her second husband, Herbert Oickle; son, David, and a number of sisters and brothers. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Lottie (Harvie) MacIntosh, Falmouth, NS. He is survived by his wife Charlene (Cochrane) MacIntosh; children Kenneth (Melody), Sarajane (Byron), Linda (Maurice), Benjamin (Kyla); grandchildren, Chelsea, Jessica MacKenzie, Bennet, Zoee, Charlie, Allie, Jackson and baby on the way. Sisters, Rita Laffin, Sadie (Sam) Blunden, Darlene (Keith) Keddy, Barb (Wayne) Gardine, Margo McBay, Mary McBay and brother Kenneth (Nancy) McBay. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 5 at United Church in Falmouth. Burial to follow in the Falmouth Centre Cemetery.
