The Municipality of Barrington wants to get things moving again with Team Shelburne. At their May 28 meeting council voted unanimously to contact other members to set a date for the next meeting and elect a chair.

Team Shelburne was formed to address the issues concerning Shelburne Place, formerly known as the Youth Centre. At the last meeting in April, chair Darian Huskilson, Mayor of Lockeport, stepped down because of his concerns of secretive dealings concerning the complex.

Louise Halliday, warden for the MoB, outlined some suggestions for the next Team Shelburne meeting:

“Meetings must be conducted following Municipal Government Rules and Regulations; CAOs and clerks from all five municipalities must attend all meetings; that the MoB clerk be nominated as recording secretary; agendas should be made up and distributed several days prior to meetings; and meetings should alternate between Shelburne and Barrington.”

Warden Halliday also appeared willing to accept the position of chair if voted in.

“We will choosing an interim chairperson or a permanent one, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it would be me. But somebody has to take the lead to call that meeting,” she said.
