My favourite things
“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens....” Well, these aren’t necessarily my favourite things. I’m useless at growing roses and I’m allergic to kittens, but hey; if Oprah can do it, so can I. I’d like to share some of my favourite things.
FOR THE KIDS
Wooden Blocks: If I had to throw out every toy in my Nursery School except one, I would keep the wooden blocks. Blocks can be used by children every day in a new, imaginative way.
Scented Markers: You can’t beat Mr. Sketch for colourful, washable and wonderfully scented markers for both children and adults.
Kool-Aid Play Dough: Make your own play dough. Mix together 2 cups flour, half-cup salt and two packages Kool-Aid. Add 2 T oil and 2 cups water. Mix and cook, stirring constantly for the best play dough.
Stompers: Buy them or make them out of tin cans. Attach heavy cord to tomato cans so kids can walk on them like stilts, holding the cord tight with each step.
FOR THE HOUSEHOLD
Natura Static Free Reusable Dryer Sheets: Use these chemical-free dryer sheets for 500 loads to eliminate static.
Lavender Scented Candles from Applewicks: Support this local workshop and enjoy their wonderful candles for yourself or as gifts!
Library Card: Never leave home without it. You never know when you might fancy a trip to your local library. Why buy magazines when you can borrow and then return them?
Tea Tree Oil: Add a few drops to the water when you ‘re mopping the floor or wiping the counters.
FOR ME
Free Gift with Purchase: I’m a sucker for free gifts, especially with Clinique skin care products. Hey, if you’re going to buy it anyway, why not make the purchase during a free gift promotion?
Lipstick: I don’t feel dressed without it.
Jean Pierre Hair Brush: I’ve been using this brand of hair brush since I was 16 and would never consider switching.
Dark Chocolate with Almonds: You can’t beat President’s Choice Dark Chocolate with Almonds for quantity, quality and price. And the best part is it’s actually good for you.
Just Us! Mochachino: Support fair trade and indulge in a coffee treat at the same time. If it’s nice, sit outside.
Crocs: It’s gotta be the real thing. If I’m not wearing my crocs, I must be in bed!
