MainStream Wrestling holds spectacular card in Middleton
MainStream Wrestling Entertainment (MSW) returned to the Middleton and District Arena for the first time in the 2007 season this past weekend and those in attendance were treated to a high-energy event.
Perhaps the most shocking development for Valley-area wrestling fans on the Sunday, May 27 card was the dramatic change in attitude demonstrated by Kentville’s Trash Canyon in the main event.
After being introduced by long-time ring announcer “Captain” Kirk Starratt, Canyon, for no apparent reason, turned on his friend and unleashed a vicious physical attack. Starratt was driven into the turnbuckles before being stomped by Canyon and kicked out of the ring.
As Canyon’s opponent, “Wildman” Gary Williams, explained to the crowd, Canyon’s change in attitude first surfaced at a Wrestling Reality taping in Halifax nearly a month ago. After teaming with Canyon in a tag-team match, Williams was shocked when his partner turned on him and struck him with a chair.
Williams was victorious in the end, pinning Canyon with a roll-up into a small package while Canyon argued with referee Storm MacDonald over the use of a chair.
In other action, MSW owner and promoter Devin Chittick, who wrestles as “X-Ray” Kyle Kruze, successfully defended his Century Wrestling Alliance Cruiserweight Championship against top contender Scott Savage, an international cruiserweight contender.
In a hardcore match with no rules, the masked Maritime Menace defeated a bloodied “Lumber” Jack Johnson after striking him with a two-by-four.
“The Canadian Heartthrob” Jason Holiday took on “Commercial-Free” Sexton Phoenix and Sidewalk Sam defeated masked high-flying Mexican star Blue River with a little help from his manager, Papi.
